View Full Version : Madonna's controversal music video Stoney.Hobbittess 04-02-03, 01:26 PM I've never have seen it or heard the song but I heard it has something to do with the troops fighting in Iraq. Has anyone heard it and if so, what do you think about it? moonman 04-02-03, 01:43 PM It's been Banned on MTV becasue it's too 'anti war'. lol f*cking US government idiots. Excuse my anger against the hypocritical fascists. Tyler 04-02-03, 04:52 PM Did MTV ban it or the government? Private enterprises are allowed to do whatever they want. More likely than not, if MTV banned it it's because they feel (probably, incorrectly) that it will hurt their earnings and turn off some viewers. And, more importantly, discourage advertisers from paying for space. Like I said, private enterprise are free to make their own choices. If you don't like it - get out of a capitalist nation. EvilPoet 04-02-03, 06:05 PM Madonna has had a change of heart and won't release her controversial, anti-war music video, "American Life," after all. In a statement posted on her Web site Monday, the singer said the video for her new single was filmed before the war with Iraq started and was not appropriate to air as scheduled this Friday out of respect for American troops who are now fighting and dying in Iraq. "Due to the volatile state of the world and out of sensitivity and respect to the armed forces, who I support and pray for, I do not want to risk offending anyone who might misinterpret the meaning of this video," Madonna said. The video for the title track of Madonna's new album shows the diva wearing military garb next to dancers in camouflage on a fashion runway and a grenade being thrown in the direction of a President Bush lookalike intercut with images of war. Source: UPI: Show Biz News (http://www.upi.com/view.cfm?StoryID=20030401-093304-1147r) fredx 04-03-03, 12:43 AM but i am starting to think being antiwar is good but in this case it might be silly because I think that this war to some degree is necessary. airavata 04-03-03, 01:11 AM madonna is a stupid, dithering, spineless, decision changing idiot. she first embraced hinduism, then buddhism, then a few other weird religions....and apparently she's going to release a rap album or something..... the views of 1min. decision changing phreks like her should not be worth considering. theonlyguyever 04-03-03, 02:47 AM Fuck Madonna. Nightpoet 04-03-03, 02:59 AM According to the all-mighty George Strombouloupoulos (sp?), its really not anti-war, its probably just some meaningless crap that Madonna is using to get publicity cause she won't admit her career is over. *fixed typo fredx 04-03-03, 03:14 AM f' madonna. shes a bitch. uh duh..i know war is coming...uh duh..ill make an anti war video..uh duh...i'll put it out after we go to war...uh duh..its inappropriate now..uh duh...i won't put it out. can you say asshole. fredx 04-03-03, 03:17 AM you are right nightpoet it is a publicity stunt...shes a shallow bitch that only cares about her own ambitions...she goes around and around in circles...her whole career...oh look at me doing this...oh look at me doing that...shes a tired old fag hag...the anti-war movement could have really used her voice not to stop the war persay because I think it might be neccessary, but I believe that the anti-war people do do good and have a influence in this whole affair, in terms of enlightening the world and showing people that their is a dissenting culture that doesn't neccesarily believe in this madness wholeheartedly. Ummm, I don't care who does it, the private sector, the government, the aliens from planet Zrygrrll who control the thoughts in my head, SOMEBODY should be censoring Madonna videos. Out of existence. blankc 04-05-03, 05:59 PM Glad we agree on something Xev. She's too old now. Let's support the younger sex symbols! Only teasing :D , madonna isn't too old, just not talented enough. She jumps on fads like she's an ugly hitchhicker. Avatar 04-05-03, 07:08 PM I like Madonna, my fav female solo singer haven't heard/seen that song you all are bitching about, though and she is a talented dancer and singer girls usually don't like her though Bebelina 04-05-03, 07:55 PM That is strange, why don't girls like her? Is she seen as a threat being an independent and strong woman perhaps? They prefer to like the more vulnerable popstars because they can identify with them more... Well, I like her style, but not her music so much. Maybe some of the older songs. Halo 04-06-03, 04:16 PM she first embraced hinduism, then buddhism, then a few other weird religions.... -airavata This statement shows your complete ignorance. How is Hinduism, buddhism "weird"? Fuck Madonna. -god is irrelevant Great post. And on and on... She, out of concern for the spiritual being of her fellow Americans, decided to pull the video and yet you complain with ignorantly mindless comments. She's an entertainer for crying out loud, she makes music and music videos and in these videos she expresses her opinions. I'm don't want to sound like I defend her every move, but she is an accomplished artist no matter what anyone says. How many people do you know of that have lasted years and continues to release fresh new music? Certainly not those talentless pop tarts that will be gone within a matter of months. Xev 04-06-03, 04:27 PM That is strange, why don't girls like her? Is she seen as a threat being an independent and strong woman perhaps? Flashing your tits in order to get ahead does not make one "independant and strong". Madonna can't sing, her songs are beyond bubblegum in terms of lyrical content, she made a fair bit of money for glamourizing a murdering fascist, and she's only gotten as far as she has because she has a sweet ass. They prefer to like the more vulnerable popstars because they can identify with them more... No, I don't particularly like Christina Agulaira or Ozzy Osborne's daughter either, and they're definitely not vulnerable. Although I did like some of Agulaira's songs off of "Dirty". Very well done for the genre. She, out of concern for the spiritual being of her fellow Americans, decided to pull the video and yet you complain with ignorantly mindless comments. Her music sucks rubber turkey dildo and she's jumping on a "no war" bandwagon. How many people do you know of that have lasted years and continues to release fresh new music? Trent Rezner, Tommoso Talamaca, Dani Filth, Rodney Orpheus (hell, some of his music is older than I am), Charlie Benant ("Fistful of Metal" was released on my birth year), Alice Cooper... Certainly not those talentless pop tarts that will be gone within a matter of months. So? Being better than the worst does not make you good. Avatar 04-06-03, 04:33 PM she has a sweet ass. sounds good to me :p Xev 04-06-03, 04:43 PM Christina Aguilara is a hot little bitch (http://www.newsfilter.org/sex/xtina1.htm), that don't mean that "What a Girl wants" is anything but bubblegum pop. Brian Warner isn't exactly a babe out of costume, but "The Reflecting God" is still sheer brilliance. Halo 04-06-03, 05:03 PM Originally posted by Xev ...rubber turkey dildo ... I don't want to picture it Trent Rezner, Tommoso Talamaca, Dani Filth, Rodney Orpheus (hell, some of his music is older than I am), Charlie Benant ("Fistful of Metal" was released on my birth year), Alice Cooper... I've personally never heard of them but I see your point that there are other established musicians out there. But to become established you have to survive. With all the new emerging artists that come out every second it's easy to get lost in the crowd, unless you and your music stands out. And that was the point that I was trying to get at. As far as if shes a good artist is strictly personal opinion. So? Being better than the worst does not make you good. This is true. But once again I'd say it's a matter of opinion. Xev 04-06-03, 05:16 PM I don't want to picture it Not a dildo made out of rubber turkeys, but a rubber dildo made to resemble a turkey penis, mind you. I've personally never heard of them Nine Inch Nails, Sadist, Cradle of Filth, Cassandra Complex, Anthrax and Alice Cooper, respectively. but I see your point that there are other established musicians out there. But to become established you have to survive. With all the new emerging artists that come out every second it's easy to get lost in the crowd, unless you and your music stands out. I agree with you here. But I think that an objective reading of her reading and vocals shows that she's not much better than the rest. Madonna's lyrics resemble every other female fuck-object/pop star's, something that you can't say for any of the bands I mentioned. (Alice Cooper's style resembles so many other heavy-metal bands because, well, Alice Cooper pioneered that style) Avatar 04-06-03, 05:47 PM the newest Cradle of Filth cd is nothing but cheap sugar they should have stopped after Midian Xev 04-06-03, 05:55 PM Better To Reign In Hell Heart in hand passed to the clasp of pain In a dark lowland that set bad blood in veins Burning, like penal fires roused to stain The jagged-toothed skyline braced with crosses The golden dawn Lay lost to mist where Emboldened thorns Made their bed with toppled stones He closed His eyes Sunken to dream there Of crow-black skies And a great white empty throne Horror stalked the bilious fogs That balked His vision He licked the spittle from the cheeks of the wry And drifted back to when His stung it's target The sneer of Michael on a glorious high Of angel dust and Virtue by his side Drowning in the past That downfall seemed like yesterday Though blurred moons passed As enemies in high places laughed Moved to mirrors cracked with heavy lines He rose snowblind, though shifting sands of time Erased the trace and taste of bitter wines The grapes of wrath grew fat on the vine She came to Him A little whip of tantrums Thrashed on velvet skins That lined Her wishbone Henge Her name was Sin A warming spurt of mantras Splashed on occult tongues That whispered sweet revenge For the shame of their crawl from grace Cold and hollow as the grave And for the rape and ruinous scourge Spared for souls that had shared God's worship For now their throats coated notes with dirge That poured from parapets to the pits below Drowning in the past A wretched scream like yesterday Died at last With the rising of the revenant dark "I shall bow no more to the dogs of the Lord Tearing at my carcass heart I shall fall to my knees only at the keyholes Of Virtue slipping into bondage masks... Freewill made me better to reign in Hell" And with new wings Unfurled and spoken He took to things That would desecrate the wold The seduction of both woman and man For a bastard masterplan Drowning out the past Fool Fates unwound cruel yesterdays Beneath the stars That staggered from the blast Cheap sugar?! I'll admit that Damnation isn't exactly Bitter Suites, but to call it cheap sugar is..... Avatar 04-06-03, 06:10 PM compared to Dark Funeral* or Dimmu Borgir* or Children of Bodom* it is (the latest album) black metal band Bebelina 04-06-03, 07:42 PM I think Madonna has gotten this far because she has insisted on having full control of what she does and I respect that. If she wants to flash her tits then she has every right to. When she does it, it has a more honesty about it than when Christina Aguilera does it, that poor girl is a victim of the greedy recordcompanies, totally. And it only makes me feel sorry for her. But, Christina can definitely sing and Madonna just can't. :D |
