Great! And when the warranty expires, it miraculously stops working. Thank you, Apple!
What is it with people these days and their obsession with thinness in electronics, anyway?
Wouldn't it be cool if they made one so small that we couldn't see it?
...
On a more serious note...

Yeah, that's what really pisses me off about Apple. Their products have such a notorious reputation of this.

I must be exceptionally lucky. I've been using their products for five years without any problems.
Billy T 01-19-08, 12:12 PM Wouldn't it be cool if they made one so small that we couldn't see it? ...That is not as silly as it sounds. It must be possible even today to make a voice cmd input system instead of a keyboard and a vocal out put system, such as are used by the blind. Admittedly normal humans are very visual creatures so a lot would be lost, but for many things like most Emails, simple calculations, information searches, etc. it would be nice to have set of glasses with embeded computer you spoke softly to for hands free working, asked for information searches, etc. and it whispered the answers in you ear.
If they looked like regular glasses, they would sell well to students taking exams, until the universities learned to hold them inside conductive shielded rooms.
I once tried a voice command my computer with a simple software. It was cool for a few days, but I uninstalled it, because it was too tireing.
While talking you are using a lot more energy than typing or pointing a mouse.
Voice command is bs except for disabled people or for places where no other interface is possible.
On topic- I think that laptop is really cool.

My iPod freezes all the time and the iPhone is very difficult to use. However, their computers work fine. I especially like Mac OS. It is just the little accessories that break down a lot.

The thin computers are designed for road warriors and business people. The question is, do you need a DVD drive in it since you can have an USB key of 4 GB to do whatever.
What somebody should come out is a blue-tooth based an external hard drive and a DVD drive that you can keep it in the check-in luggage just in case. May be in 10 years you may not need too much storage as you can store it at home and get it through the broadband connection.
I store all my documents in an USB drive when traveling at work, just in case my laptop gets stolen.
I don't see much need for cd's or dvd's other than making backups, because evertyhing can be stored on extrenal hard drives or flash drives.
I'm currently looking for a 13" lapotp for working while traveling, my 15,4" is a bit needlessly big.
I'll need a windows lapotpo though. I'm a Linux guy, but at my work I can't allow myself incompability with word docs, and OO sometimes screws up the look.
cosmictraveler 01-19-08, 05:42 PM Battery life, about 1 hour if not used. :p
You might want Apple with a good extra warrantee. As long as you have the Office, you are set. I wonder if Open Office can run on apple. Dell has D430 that has a 12 inch display and you can add 2 GB of memory. But the hard drive is only 4200 rpm and there is no selection to get a 7200 rpm. I think Dell has a problem with Hitachi.
For a laptop, less than 7200 rpm HD is not recommended. Or you can use a flash drive, but that is not common.
Lenovo has a 12 inch display and 5400 rpm SATA drive...that may be acceprable.

Breaking down and malfunctioning; apple is famous for those kinds of things.I'm writing this on a 1998 PowerBook G4. The only thing I ever had to replace is the keyboard, which after all is plastic and gets a lot of action. It has frozen up two or three times in its life, but not at all since the latest updates to OS/X. The only problems I ever have on this computer occur when I'm running Microsoft Office, which I have to have in order to be compatible with the Windows box <yuccch phooey spits in the direction of Seattle> I have to use for work.
Windows should be outlawed and Bill Gates should be in prison.

Mine used to freeze all the time. But I updated the software and now it works great. I haven't had any problems with it for about two and a half years.
I find ipods to be very impractical pieces of equipment.
1. They need a special software to transfer files, that's bollox and an uneccessary restriction.
It's a world easier just to copy/paste into FAT.
2. They use a unremovable battery, which is stupid if you go to places with no electricity.
As I see it ipods are only good for city commuters who don't mind being annoyed by special software to upload files.

Either they broke or their screen cracked, the service was poor and worse was the interface.
the interface alone makes the iPOD a winner.
That said, I do hate the difficulty in getting files onto the little bastard - that's the #1 problem.
