Do you believe President Bush misled the nation in order to go to war with Iraq?

    So far, it's Yes 95% - No 5% after about 59,000 votes.

these polls are not scientific, and can be easily hacked

So you're opinion of this is that someone has hacked MSNBC to change poll results? (For those of you that don't know, a hacker being able to hack MSNBC and then only changing a political poll is highly unlikely at best...)

No Spidergoat, you don't understand, someones hacked that, it is IMPOSSIBLE that that much dissent against the current administration exists. So really it's just a matter of finding that ONE person that doesn't agree with the war...

i remember once CNN's poll was hacked. how hard is it to hack MSNBC's? but that's not the main thing. these polls are unscientific, meaning that it is not representative of the population. show me a Gallup poll, and i'll believe it.

and even a Gallup poll (pro or anti Bush), it represents an opinion at a moment in time. a population with a short attention span changes its opinion every other week

Otheadp, if this poll were to be wrong because it's scientifically wrong, the percent error would have to be in the 90's, which is, as anyone whos taken Statistics knows, virtually impossibly improbable.

Why is it that you just CAN'T take the fact that so many people realize that we were lied to about this fake war in Iraq?

The poll is biased, not because it was hacked, but for all the usual statistical reasons such as sampling, that voting is voluntary etc etc.
Also, people who read the news on the internet are more likely to be informed. People who don't are more likely to believe the usual Fox News myths. By sampling from informed viewers you'll get a result skewed in favour of sanity.
Gallup showed that 50% supported deliberate deception. That was in April. Now with the Downing Street Memos that will be considerably higher.

You don't even have to hack a poll. All you have to do is keep hitting F5 (Refresh) in a browser with cookies disabled, or write a very simple script to do it. It's extremely simple.

Yes but this isn't some small Democratic site putting up a little poll. This is MSNBC. It's not like people are not going to this site and voting, they are. If you think some leftist is sitting there hitting F5 and revoting in order to skew the poll results just because you can't stand the fact that people think they were lied to (which they were), then just stop posting in this thread.

i can totally believe some lefty from the lunatic fringe would do that.
once when CNN had a vote about "should gay marriage be legalized", all of the sudden they had 2-3 times more votes than they usually have on other CNN polls, and the vote was extremely skewed towards "yes". surprise surprise

as soon as people heard about this vote, everyone hurried to CNN to vote!

Voodoo Child, do you have any links to Gallup polls on this subject?

Maybe they had 2-3 times more votes because it was more interesting than their regular polls. The gay marriage issue is a huge nationwide issue, so naturally more people are going to want to give their opinions on it. And is it not possible that most people do think that it should legalized? Pretty much all women, and a lot of men to, not to mention the gays themselves....

And if everyone ran to vote, isn't that a good thing, because that would give us a better idea of the what the people actually believe?

Since we're so hung up with Gallup polls, here's one:

    June 21, 2005
Majority of Americans Oppose War With Iraq

Why the sudden directive to stop posting on the thread? Why do so many people immediately resort to trying to squash people who don't agree with them?

Anyway, most hackers/computer geeks tend to be radically left. Someone who happens to fit that profile would have motivation to skew the results, even if it were just for fun.

Only because it's a dead discussion. Ok, so there is a possibility that it was hacked 50,000 times. So what? I would much rather we discuss why so many people think that we were lied to? Because an ever increasing number of people do.

Okay, well then we can change the direction of the discussion.

So many people believe we were lied to because apparently, we were. Not by Bush, who was going on the intelligence given to him, but the CIA. Where the CIA got that information, who knows? Classified. They may have made it up, they may have gotten it from an idiotic informant from Iraq who had a bone with Saddam Hussein. The media has portrayed Bush as the perpetrator of the intelligence, when the president's job is to act on the intelligence, not to find it. I believe the blame lies lower down.
