I've got a creative NOMAD MX 30 gigabyte MP3 player. I take that thing EVERYWHERE with me, I love it.

I even take it with me in the pool, while I'm laying on this foam mat and hold it on my chest while listening to it.

Here is my question. If I drop this thing in the water, will it electrocute me? I mean, I know a blow dryer and toaster will kill somebody, but how about this MP3 player?

It could cause harm to your ears through a loud signal that could damage your ear drums. Besides that I don't know how else it could harm you..unless you are holding it as your dip it in the water. Check the back or the manual for water resistence info...most likely it'll die as soon as it touches water....most sensitive electrinics are like that. I don't really know if it can create a shock big enough to do serious harm.

I have no clue why, but my ears got zapped a few times (nothing painful, and really for a moment) with my mp3 player, and it was only sitting in my bag.

Call me dumb, but I seriously doubt I could electricute myself if I dip my phone into the bath tub.

I've got to agree with the Sarge, I dont know what charge the battery carries
but i doubt its enough do any kind of real harm

The only damage to you would probably be psychological, as a no doubt beloved
piece of hardware would be reduced to paper-weight status, its nice to look at,
its weight will stop your paperwork blowing away, but it has no real function...

It doesn't have nearly enough current to cause you any harm. Don't worry.

Yeah, it is a very beloved piece of hardware, it has 220 albums on it, plus a bunch of books on CDs that I get from the library and put on it, I would feel AWFUL if it died.

I have an iPod 15 gb myself and I would go into a deep depression if it died on me.
