I can't bear to watch cable tv much longer, due to their incessant, long, annoying commercials. I've tried to list some of the worst . You tell me what you think 1. Any with BILLY MAYS..my god, how much more can I take. He has to be the most reviled ass on television, but there must be some totally insane idiots buying his spiel, or he would be gone. How much worse can you get, than this guy? 2. Ditec.com...would you trust these jerks with your mortgage?? 3. Verizon "can you hear me now" 4. Dell computers...nothing I can say about dell that is good 5. Ionic breeze quadra...air cleaner $400.00 piece of crap 6. The Video Professor. this guy is a pure old crook...period 7. Anything with Dr Phil..this man is a mencae to society 8. Colonial Penn Insurance, where a black amn is saying that he has been putting his "extra change after breaking a dollar, in an old jar since he was a kid". Where did a young black man, or for that matter, a young white boy, get "extrta" change when he was a kid? 9. AOL what can I say? 10. Focus Factor...for your brain..give me a beak 11. Geico.. what a bunch of jerks to worship a damn lizard 12. Direct TV just plain ignorant 13. IDT, plus all other long distance advertisers 14. All political commercials 15. What I found out, If you beleive it, is that the cable companys "buy or lease." the tv programs, and "insert" their own commercials, in addition to any that are national. As far as what it would cost without commercials is truly beyond an answer. I can truly tell you this though. My cable bill, to include online access is $100.00 per month. That's with no premium channels. So you tell me if we're being ripped? My post wasn't about the cost of cable, it was about the asinine commercials, and frequency of them. Thanks for your input.
your welcome Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! the issue i was skirting around is that the companys will increase the adverts to make profit regardless of what you pay if they can get away with it it would take a big effort of many people to stop cable as a protest to make them change it but they have advertising paid many months in advance most often so could run at a profit if everyone stopped paying their cable bill for a few months anyway so much for consumer demand although what have the consumers demanded nothing yet i would imagine that is also one of my points co-ordination is the key and most people dont wish to spend the time to even think of such things in genral day to day life so there is your situation consumer lazzyness and profit driven company goals result in ever incrreasing adverts oh well i do sympathise with you on the advert thing the timing of the adverts mixed with parental lazzyness of plonking kids infront of the tv makes for many big issues for the children later on like ADD symptoms government regulation would be my vote along with greater parental guidlines on things like confined media for developing children groove on Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
If enough people were to CANCEL their cable TV then the problem would be taken care of. Seeing as how few people are CANCELING their cable TV service you won't see any actions to change the way things are.
Ditto, I agree totally. I've fought with the government many years over different issues, and I can tell you, that they will take the wind out of your sails. Though I've "won" a few of the issues, it taken it's toll on me. So like you said, it would take a group effort to stop this, but from experience, that isn't going to happen. People want other people to take care of it. Kind of like voting, isn't it? If I don't vote, then they can't blame me if some jerk-off gets into office. So it comes down to what I said before. Mr. Bud Light Commercial-Maker, thank you for making my day! Okay, I realize that this is a thread for "annoying" commercials, but these are hilarious! I'm mainly referring to the "Bud Light" commercials. They're hilarious! Hubby and I sit and laugh really hard for hours after we've seen the latest Budweiser commercials.
I quit watching TV for similar reasons; mainly because I don't want to spend the money buying new batteries for my remote control and in order to change the station, I have to actually get up. I just leave the TV on comedy central so when I turn it on I don't have to worry about flipping to find something to watch. TV is worthless. Pick up a book.
YOU GOT THAT RIGHT Maybe your reply sounds funny, but you have a good point. I don't watch as much tv as I used to, and spend more time on the internet. It's more controllable, even with the pop-ups that can be stopped, and so today I switched cable companies, because they provide the same "dis-service" that my current provider did, but at half the price. I told Time Warner why I was switching too. So that was my little way of getting even for paying to watch these idiotic commercials. commercials i hate: 1: "zoom zoom zoom" 2: carrot top in "C A L L A T T" 3: any anti marijuana or satalite signel thief commercials (but dad, you steal satalite [fight back jr. download mp3s instead]) 4: ANY commericals with early 90s, 80s or 70s pop music that was popular then but is anoying now 5: AOL Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! 6: Walmart yes cuase it takes ALOT of batterys for a remote controll to last 6 months - 3 years.............. 5 years and running for my stero remote. get satalite, and plus its not hard to switch cannels when commericals come on....... if your gonna hate TV give yourself a reason, ads in magazines and events is more anoying than TV commericals, whats worst: watch a few commericals on something you almost see for when when you can just get up and leave for a few minutes or buying a magazine and finding 1/3 of it is full of leaflets ads that will fall out the 2nd you open the magazine, 1/3 of it is bull shit ads you dont wanna see with super hot models female or male that smile in a way like they are the most superior beings on the earth, and 1/3 actual reading material, in which half of it you skip anyways. subway sucks. a canadian...you missed the point entirely. i was using the batteries thing as a bit of relief. the 'being lazy and not replacing the batteries' is the excuse i use as a sort of restraint from the temptation of rotting my brain with such USELESS garbage. honestly... the other day i had the misfortune of sitting through 10 minutes of some sitcom where they were arguing over whether or not some guy would like this girl because her breasts are smaller than they were prortrayed in a painting. WHO FUCKING CARES!! tv sucks, dude. there isnt anything worth watching. the news lies. no one cares about anything but money. READ A GOD DAMN BOOK!
