By placing Karl Rove in charge of the re-construction in Louisiana, Bush demsonstrates once again that he learns nothing from experience. People died because incompetent hacks were placed in postions of responsibility at FEMA. The second and third layers of management are also Bush front and PR people.

What relevant experience does Karl Rove bring to this new postion? None. Unless you look at reconstruction as just one more giant opportuinity to plunder the treasury and hand out contracts to Bush buddies and backers.

Wake up people of the Gulf Coast! Bush's dereiliction killed you and now Karl Rove is going in to pick your (and our) pockets.

And since this is about reconstructing New Orleans, may I ask .....why should the federal government have anything to do with it? Why should the federal government pay for any of it? ...except, of course, the national port facilities.

Good question, Baron. Maybe the state of Louisiana should decide to commit economic secession - tell the federal government "hey, guess what - you know all that tax money we collect and pass on to Washington? Well, no more. We need it. And while we're at it, we're gonna conclude some trade relations with Venezuela for some real cheap oil and meybe we'll collect a toll for every barge that wants to go from the Mississippi to the Gulf.

Karl Rove is perfect to be in charge of recontruction. We can pile his bullshit up until New Orleans is 6 feet above sea level and then build on top.

Get real, Te Jen, get real! It would do you well to think about the situation instead of react with emotions and rhetoric.

If the USA taxpayers rebuild the city of New Orleans, does that mean that, after every natural disaster, we should also help all those other people? ...mudslides in Californication, fires in the western states, tornadoes in the mid-west, and, of course, the already-destroyed portions of Florida due to hurricanes in the past? When does it end? How does it end? Where does the money come from?

Please think a litttle bit, then respond with some degree of intelligence.

    Yes.
The money comes where it always came from, taxes. After we rebuild these areas, if it's appropriate, they will generate tax revenue again. I think this is one of the functions of federal government.

Yes!! STATE RIGHTS! (and responsibility). Im sure if they had put a $.25 tax on every beer sold in New Orleans they could have fixed those levees.

On another site some said to turn it into Lake Nomorleans LOL

I'm not sure it is a good idea to rebuild it. It's just going to happen again.

What I can't figure out also is ...are they going to allow or build homes, etc back in the flood plain (the hole in the ground!)? And if so, isn't another hurricane gonna' be a problem? And if not, are they gonna' fill the whole thing with dirt? That's a lot of dirt!!

And the taxpayers in Montana and Wyoming are gonna' go along with this idea? What do they get out of it? ;=)
