Mountain covers its 'nipple' (KING5) (http://www.king5.com/sharedcontent/northwest/watercooler/stories/NW_031503WCmtnnipple.625de5f8.html)Pressure from uncomfortable skiers and other tourists has prompted the Grand Targhee Ski and Summer Resort to cover the second half of the name of one of its mountains.

Mary's Nipple is now just Mary's, and signs with the word "nipple" have been covered with tape. New signs were to arrive in about two weeks.I almost put this in religion because of the counterpoint, but there is no mention that the uncomfortable skiers and tourists were making religious objections. As a side note, where else does this kind of prudery come from? That's not sarcastic or rhetorical; I'd actually like to know.

But the counterpoint is simply this:

- I should raise money and file a lawsuits against the citiy of Corpus Christi, Texas; I'm tempted to include Los Angeles, but that is a slightly different consideration.

Frankly, having the government endorse religioin through city names is much more offensive than naming a peak "Mary's Nipple".

There is a place in Newfoundland Canada named "Dildo."

This is totally unrelated, but I noticed yesterday that on the packaging for Silly Putty it says "Caution: Not intended for use as earplugs." Weird hey?

I'm not worried about a "none" option. Technically, I wouldn't change any of them, either. The Corpus Christi counterpoint is useful because I tend to think the kind of prudery that objects to "Mary's Nipple" comes from religion. Anyone who cares to fill me in otherwise ... I would love to know where else this kind of prudery comes from.

But the "none" option is useless to me. I'd rather know what someone finds offensive and why. And then the "none" option becomes important because all of those people can have a good chuckle.

Just sit back, relax, and see what happens.

I doubt there are any takers here ;)

If nothing else, we get to learn about Dildo, Canada, and other strange places.

And I have no idea whence comes the Silly Putty warning. I must admit that's quite funny. Almost as funny as a warning stamp on a gun.
