I'm just learning how to use Linux, I've installed PCLinuxOS and this thing is insanely freakin cool! Beryl is enabled, I have everything I could want, I installed a partition for windows (games + itunes only) and man... you can flip the virtual desktops with the wheel on the mouse! You can rotate the cube! You can do anything... it's soooo coool

I'm gonna remaster the changes I've made and create a new disk, this is so fun!

You should try it if you are interested, la de da.... I'll make a video as soon as I figure out how to install the newest xvidcap, I did install it before but wanna make sure I can uninstall it later so am waiting on an answer... like after I make install how do I remove it later if I want? Somebody said to use cleaninstall makeinstall and it would generate an RPM I could use to uninstall later

Anybody know how I can install source then remove it later?

lol, you posted a lot to your own thread.

But yes, Linux is pretty sweet. I remember when I was 12 and first installed it how sweet it was. Now I don't have much use for it, cause I don't have the time/energy to put all the effort required into it, though I do have a few boxes with it still installed. Towards the end of my linux career I really got into X modification, using different window managers and such, transparencies, and making themes. The possibilities with linux are endless, and I would really like to get back into it, but once again, time constraints are the deterrant for me.

You should look at some different distrobutions, they all have their own flavor, and range in difficulty/complications/user friendliness.

look into fluxbox and blackbox window managers too

The effort of messing with dependencies, and figuring out ways to get needed applications to run. I'm in college now, which puts a lot more time constraints and more compatability issues ahead of pleasure.

    I don't think it's so bad.

Heh, well good for you. Ive probobly installed linux a good 4 times since Ive been in college (I'm finishing my 3rd year right now). The problem is, I am not pursuing a computere science degree, or anything close(microbiology). While I could see myself working with Fedora or something, I don't feel that I have enough patients to put up with something like slack or debian.
I do have a laptop with Fedora on it at the moment, but as luck would have it, I never turn it on. I never need to. The majority of what I do on computers now doesnt require it. While I still love it, and hopefully will find the time to get reinvolved, its def. not going to happen during finals week.

I am actually hoping to sell both laptops and get a mac(hopefully a macbook pro). I enjoy OSX a lot, it really apeals to me.

I dont care about install/configure ease of use. I would like something, that once its installed has no problems with dependencies.
