I am kind of curious how many, if any of you are planning on playing this game, or have already started playing it. I kind of got hooked on it half way through the open-beta and boy is it addicting. Anways, it's a great game, check it out if you havn't already.

Never heard of it. Could you describe the gameplay?

The one game I'm really excited about is pirates! 2. Looks real gay, but it should be amazingly fun.

Well it's an MMORPG that uses a modified version of the Unreal Engine. Basically, from what I have seen in it there isn't a real wide range of how many characters you can have at first. There are about six races and initially, each race can be two classes ( mage and fighter, except the dwarves only get fighter). As your progress up your skill levels you have the opportunity to become more unique (a human mage can expand to 4 different unique classes once it becomes level 40). It requires a ton of time to preogress levels in the game (unlike games such as *cough* Diablo 2 *cough*).

The game is very PVP based, but it also puts great penalties on those that kill others for shits and giggles. Also, the world is huge. To get from one side of the map to the other it would take roughly 5 hours nonstop walking. They have a great clan system setup that allows clan members to have special advantages (you can even own a castle of your own as a clan). It's kind of difficult to mention EVERYTHING in the game because there is so much stuff. There are only two major comments that I have against this game. One being "the graphics are wierd". The effects in the game are great and I can't figure out how they made the Unreal Engine look so snappy. The other comment was "the characters aren't customizable enough". The first 20 hours that you play you will notice that your character looks and acts like a lot of other characters in the game. As your character progresses however, you will notice that you gain new skills that others don't get and you start to play the game in a completely different fashion then those early character clones are.

The only beef I have thus far is the price of the game. It costs $60 CA to buy from EB plus another $20/month for us Canadians (we get the first month of play for free). I guess after the first few months I'll find out how addicted I really am to the game and see how much I have to shell out to them in monthly payments, but considering my track records with other games I will most certainly find myself tired of playing my lvl 60 char after 3 months and put it aside for a while.

I tried it in beta. Same old thing with nice new graphics. Won't be paying for it.

I started playing Lineage 2 in Closed Beta. I had both a human and a dwarf character in CB. They got wiped for Open Beta, and I had to start over again. I've been playing as a Human Fighter since I began Open Beta, and recently made my first class transfer to Rogue.

I don't have much experience with MMORPG's, but I enjoy Lineage 2. I think it has a good balance. You can play it safe and fight weaker monsters for a boring -yet safe- leveling experience, or you can fight stronger monsters to get a good amount of adena and more expensive drops, but risk getting killed.

Death can result in losing very hard-earned items, and WILL result in losing experience.

Killing other players is a huge risk at the moment. If you kill someone without being provoked (if they didn't hit you first) you become marked as a murderer and will either be killed several times before you are cleared of the negative mark, or you will kill more and go deeper down the spiral which most do not return from. On paper, it is possible to pay off your debt for murdering by killing same-level monsters or higher, but since you will drop more items more often when you are red -the sign you are a murderer- everyone will hunt you and kill you for as long as you are red.

There are a few bugs in Lineage 2. These will be the major determining factor to how long I play. If it takes forever for them to fix the bugs, I will eventually get fed up and go find another MMORPG. If they DO fix the bugs, this will be a great MMORPG!
