Everyone dies, it's just a matter of when and how, and we all know that. So why do we still keep ourselves alive for if death ultimately is inevitable? Why bother?

So why do we still keep ourselves alive for if death ultimately is inevitable? Why bother? KennyJC 10-20-05, 09:09 AM It's in our nature. Not all of us would find it easy to kill ourselves because pain is not nice. So it could be said if we are going to die anyway, why not wait for it - rather than make it happen? If you really don't know the answer to that question, then feel free to go ahead and exit right now. I'm sure there's a tall bridge somewhere close to you. ;) Maharajah 10-20-05, 09:45 AM fear of the unknown cosmictraveler 10-20-05, 09:56 AM Everyone dies, it's just a matter of when and how, and we all know that. So why do we still keep ourselves alive for if death ultimately is inevitable? Why bother? I like seeing all the wonderful things that nature has to show me. I have friends that I enjoy being with. Some of my friends have children who I get a kick out of playing with. There are good books that I enjoy reading, places to go, people to meet. The women I have been with are very loving women who have honered me with many nights of pure passion and bliss! ;) There are so many new inventions being developed daily so many movies to see, so much to do, so little time to do it all. duendy 10-20-05, 10:23 AM Everyone dies, it's just a matter of when and how, and we all know that. So why do we still keep ourselves alive for if death ultimately is inevitable? Why bother? it is usually when we feel oppressed when we ask this question. many many many people deny they are oppressed. and...if tey complan they can be diagnosed 'mentally ill' which is a complte false myth. it doesn't exist. there is no scientific proof for it. i am NOT sayinfg that people dont display distress in variousforms, etc. no, what i AM saying is that this culture's ANSWER for te sitress, or visions etc is false. S in this situation i see ouur culture like a straighjacket. where people are constrained and diven into corners, both physically and psychologically we have to understand all this--our oppressin, to be able to dig it and deal with it, by speaking out and maing sure tat we dont get taken in by the hype, and that we may help radically change this world so people ENJOY living and dont secretly and openly pine for escape via booze destructive use of drugs etc and death Onefinity 10-20-05, 10:29 AM Everyone dies, it's just a matter of when and how, and we all know that. So why do we still keep ourselves alive for if death ultimately is inevitable? Why bother? Because death only has existence or meaning in terms of the life being lived, or the life having been led. We don't even really know what death is, from the inside. And, I believe, we also invest much in life - even though death is always around the corner - because we know that there is something eternal to what we do each day. spidergoat 10-20-05, 12:10 PM Everyone dies, it's just a matter of when and how, and we all know that. If you are fortunate, you will die long before your body, then you will never experience death. I think it pretty silly to only value things that are unchangeable and permanent. As a matter of fact, things that are unchangeable and permanent are already dead. Life in inherently flow and movement, and thus so much more interesting. Why bother? to get your dick sucked.what kind of a question is that?if something is short why not cut it shorter?!sounds like nonsense to me. dzerzhinsky 10-21-05, 10:30 AM My question is, is there some kind of goal in life that after you've done it life loses it's meaning and you can just go kill yourself and it would not make a difference? duendy 10-21-05, 10:59 AM My question is, is there some kind of goal in life that after you've done it life loses it's meaning and you can just go kill yourself and it would not make a difference? read great book years bck titled Exploring the Crack in the Cosmic Egg......pparently its found that when people do achieve goals tey suddenly become depressed. why? caue they've reached it?....so, they need another , then another so is the trick notto have a goal i wonder? Prince_James 10-21-05, 08:49 PM Dzerzhinsky: You've hit upon existential angst/nihilism. Life is pointless and yes, it does not matter if one lives or dies, but we can choose - as Nietzsche would have us do - to make meaning simply because we desire it. devils_reject 10-26-05, 03:00 PM I think death is very fascinating I just can't wait to see what the eff the whole hopla is about. Its wonderful to know after all the surprises you get during your life time there is still an even bigger surprise at the end. Pretty cool eh? |
