View Full Version : Liberal "Recession" Hopes Dealt a Death Blow
Jan. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Industrial production in the U.S. was greater than forecast in December as growth in exports helped make up for weakness in auto and housing-related industries. :bravo:
Production at factories, mines and utilities was unchanged following a 0.3 percent increase in November. Economists had forecast a decline.
Demand in overseas markets including Asia is helping keep U.S. factories busy filling orders for goods such as business equipment. Consumer spending, which is forecast to slow without collapsing, will help the economy to skirt a recession even as the housing slump deepens. :yay:
Another government report today signaled inflation may decelerate this year...
Economic growth will average 1.5 percent in the first six months of 2008, matching the fourth quarter's pace.

The drive-by media is desperate for a recession--something else to blame W for. Too bad for them it's not gonna happen. :D
spidergoat 01-17-08, 12:38 PM Whatever, the impending recession is all over the news now. Trickle down doesn't work, you might as well improve the economy by flying over Beverly Hills in a helicopter and shovelling cash out the window.

The liberal-biased media is dying for a recession. They will say/do ANYTHING to make W look bad. Remember when the NYSlimes reported classified information?
They have been reporting on the housing crisis for 5 (!!) years--way before it even started.:(
Trickle-down does work. It will always work.
The free cash is a democrat campaign promise, not Repub.:(
spidergoat 01-17-08, 01:19 PM And you are determined to prove your esteemed leader knows what the hell he's doing.
DubStyle 01-17-08, 01:29 PM LOL @ death blow.
I'm as big an optimist s they come, but I believe Goldman released a report on Friday predicting negative GDP growth in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.
pjdude1219 01-17-08, 01:35 PM liberals don't want a recession they just know there is going to be one shortly

That's a very good description of Obama's plan, except change the location of the helicopter. He wants to give a bunch of people $250. Not by helicopter, I must admit. Probably by mail:
Illinois Democrat Barack Obama yesterday revealed his own plan, which involves a 250 usd tax credit to 150 million workers and Social Security recipients, and possibly another 250 usd to both groups if employment continues to decline.
Obama also wants 10 bln usd in new spending for pre-foreclosure counselling, 10 bln usd for state and local governments facing budget problems because of the housing decline, and 10 bln usd for extending and expanding coverage of unemployment insurance. http://www.forbes.com/markets/feeds/afx/2008/01/15/afx4535037.html
What a great plan! Give a bunch of people $250 or $500! And let's help the states with their budget problems by giving them $10 billion! The federal government has plenty of money! We can just keep borrowing it from China!
Great plan, Obama!!!!!!!!!:):cool::rolleyes:
spidergoat 01-17-08, 03:03 PM Those would be poor people, the opposite of "trickle down". We can get the money by repealling Bush's tax cuts on rich bastards that don't need it.
liberals don't want a recession they just know there is going to be one shortly
Are you kidding? Liberal giant George Soros* (who personally funded the blatantly false inflated report on the number of Iraqis killed in the war) is just one big liberal hoping/betting on a recession:

He HATES W. He spent $25 MILLION dollars trying to defeat him in '04.
HA-HA!! :roflmao:
Liberals are dying for a recession/anything to make W look bad. Too bad they don't have anything. :D
There will be no recession. Not while a Republican is in charge. But if Hillary or Obama get in, there will DEFINITELY be one. A terrible one.
* You remember who Soros is, right? He's the billionaire who uses his money for prostitution rights, criminal alien rights, baby-killing rights, drug users rights, and felon voter rights. What a stand up guy. Ugh...

better than bush. w makes himself look bad. liberals are being realistic about the odds of recession and are trying to mitagate it while some conservatives like you just want to ignore reality that the economy is begining to tank.
right because republicans are so fiscally responsible that why the federal debt has gone up by 4 trillion under complete republican control we both know your full of shit on this subject

Who's better than Bush? Soros? You have GOT to be kidding, right? Or is your thinking that delusional?
The debt is up because of the war against evil muslim terrorists. You want them here? Not me....

which to him means more unneeded tax cuts for the mega rich
Pandaemoni 01-17-08, 04:25 PM which to him means more unneeded tax cuts for the mega rich
The rich create jobs...granted, many of those jobs are overseas, but jobs nonetheless! :D The poor spend their money here, but they spend it on things made overseas.
iceaura 01-17-08, 04:26 PM Lessee: the dollar drops something like 12%, and exports hold steady for a quarter - and that's good news ?
Where's the 12% boost in exports to make up for the lost dollar value ?
I think we've been in a long recession for years, hidden by the housing bubble cash infusion.
The rich create jobs... Fewer than they'd create if they weren't discouraged from investment in their business by tax breaks on income.
And only with some of the money, anyway. The rest goes into piles. Offshore piles.

I propose buying stock in xerox as the feds are going to need to buy a few more printers to run off all the new money they are going to need to poof out of thin air...

This goes for everyone. I have no intrest in seeing Business & Economics turn into the flame war that politics and religion are, there is no need for it. Keep it civilised

That sounds similar to the argument defending illegal immigrants with regards to the issue of capital flight.
but but but they will send all the money they make in the usa back home to south america where they will buy american goods and send the money back to the usa...
angrybellsprout 01-18-08, 09:09 AM which to him means more unneeded tax cuts for the mega rich
When the 'mega rich' are the only ones paying any real amount of taxes, of course they are going to benefit the most from any sort of fair tax cut.
If you pay $10 in tax, then someone else pays $1k in taxes and the government drops taxes by 10% you will be paying $9 in tax and the other guy will pay $900 in tax and you will just be BAAAAWWWWWWWWW about 'tax cuts for the rich'...
Stryder 01-18-08, 09:40 AM Come on we all know this is where the Phat cats get richer. Simply put when someones country has an Economic slide, it's usually caused because the Phat cats have put their money somewhere else, when it slides far enough they can Double/Triple/Quadruple what they originally pulled out by buying back in.
It's an old tried and tested form of self-Imposed Hierarchical states through the manipulation of money (If not an entire countries economic system)
Just look to your Black Monday for answers (That would be 1929)
