In the past few days, I've recieved a few comments, both privately and publicly, not only regarding my sexual orientation, but it's relationship to my individuality or "lack thereof". And though these comments may or may not have been meant as a personal attack, I nevertheless feel inclined to speak out in response.
Now, I've been around SciForums for about 2 years now. I use to have a different account with another name, but due to a change in email address and loss of password, I was unable to regain my old User ID, thus is why I am MZ3Boy84. Regardless, now that I am settling in and quickly becoming familiar with its most prevalant users as others are becoming with me, I wish to make a few things clear so that I may enjoy my time here as long as possible.
In regards to my individuality and sexual orientation, I'd like to clarify that my sexuality has little to do with my personality. Yes, there's is a big rainbow flag as my avatar. I chose that image not as a public announcement of my orientation but rather a political point. I will not go into details, just try understand where I am coming from. Secondly, in emphasis to my previous statement, who I am as a person is not defined by my sexual orientation. I do not want to be known around here as "that gay guy". My name is NOT "Josh the homosexual", it IS Josh. I do not parade down main street waving a big rainbow flag. I am not gay, I am Josh. Being gay is just a tiny part of who I am.
If I talk to you directly, I am not asking what your sexual preference is. I say this because earlier today, I was attempting to talk to an individual here on the site, through private messaging, regarding a religious topic which had nothing to do with sexual orientation. The first words from that person was "I am not gay" in big bold letters. I clearly stated in reply that thier sexual orientation was of no importance to me. That goes for everyone here. I will never ask you a question regarding your personal life (that does not include religion :D), simply because regardless of the answer, I don't care. Anyone's sexual orientation on this site has absolutely no significance to me at all. And I will not discuss anyone else's orientation unless that person wants it to be discussed.
Now here are some thing's you SHOULD know about me.
1) I am quick to speak my mind even when out-numbered.
2) I am open-minded.
3) I do not based any judgements on anything other my personal experiences. And EVERYTHING I say is based on personal experience, whether concidered right or wrong.
4) I will listen to anything anyone wants to say about ANYTHING. Though I may not agree with what you say sometimes, I will take whatever you say into concideration regarding any topic.
5) I will not tolerate public attacks. If anyone has a problem with me or anything I say to the point that you feel as though you can somehow not move past it, tell me directly and hopefully we can come to a resolution and move on.
Now, if you have any question or comments, feel free. I'll answer everything to the best of my knowledge.
Lastly, I hope someone was able to see the irony in the title. :D
