All right, I live in Florida and work in a nationally known company that sells computer parts and the sorts. A customer came in yesterday and we didn't have the part she needed and I recommended another (locally owned) company down the street and she said "Well, I use Store X (another locally owned company)" And then I replied "Well, I've heard a lot of bad things about this company and I've also heard they sell unlicensed copies of Windows" Turns out this was a relative of the owner.. the owner came in and we talked and as far as I knew everything was okay. After I left for the day, I came in to pick up my check and the other employees were telling me that a man claiming to be the owner was really angry and was taking pictures of the employees and getting names and said he was getting a lawyer.. My question is: What's the illegal action?
Damages.. there can't be any.. the lady still went on to shop there. It's not like I have a neon boycott shirt... I've been told I was probably set-up..(using recording devices, etc) --which i I highly doubt -- apparently small businesses do this all the time to try and sue bigger companies.. all I'm worried about is losing my job.
Oh yeah, Apparently they all thought he was going to become violent last night, said they're glad i wasn't there. and do you mean intimidate how, physically.. legally?
Sciforums is not a good place to ask for legal advice, because most people here don't have a clue about what they are talking about. Consult a professional lawyer, or just post your question in some law faculty's forum and hope you get some sensible student to reply. I'd like to help, but I know nothing about USA laws and the legal system over the pond.
Well, I'm not even sure of where to find a law firm's forum.. I figured someone here has to know law somewhat.
bottom line is, this guy has nothing. stay away from him, if you have to call the cops and be sure they document it. the key here is not to escelate things.
