View Full Version : Left Behind?

I was just thinking earlier ........

How many people of the world are being literally left behind by the advancements in technology ...namely the computer and the Internet? But also other technology, too.

There must be billions of people that ain't got no computer, and even if we gave them one, they couldn't use it because 1.) they don't know how, 2.) they ain't got no electricity or phone, 3.) they don't have any actual use for it, so it would probably sit there doing nothing.

How many people out there are being left behind? I mean, not that I give a shit about 'em, but I was just curious.

africa is a technology void.

but by comparison within developed countries, rural areas are left behind. i(along with thousands of other farmers) am stuck on dialup speed internet, while the rest of the country can get any speed up to adsl1.1 limits. we are also a second priority in terms of electricity. when the blizzard hit here over winter, the cities had power back in a matter of hours, while we were waiting up to a fortnight.

Since you asked, about 5133882299, give or take a few millions. The majority of people don't posses computers...
That doesn't mean they are less happy than the ones with internet access...

And here I thought you'd be prattlin' on about that series of books about the jamokes who missed out on the "Rapture", herr Baron...

The Chin Empire has more internet users than some nations have people period...
http://www.networkworld.com/news/2006/071906-chinas-internet-population.html
The number of Chinese Internet users reached 123 million at the end of June, with two-thirds of them using broadband connections
...However, less than 10% of the country's 1.3 billion population has Internet access, leaving plenty of room for continued growth.

I'm sorry, guys, I didn't want to start any arguments at all with this thread. I was just seriously interested and really don't know how to do searches very well ...I always end up with several gazillion porno sites, but wading through it all to find what I want would take more time than i have left on Earth!

But it's also more than just internet access, etc. It's also about modern technologies of all kinds. How many people are actually living in "the old days" and doing just fine with it? I mean, they all ain't unhappy or starving or any of that, they might just be living in, say, the late 19th century, ya' know what I mean?

Johnny, Johnny, Johnny...

Only those of the Chin Empire are chinks...

Vietnamese are gooks...

Koreans are slopes or dinks...

It's a subtle difference, but one simply must follow proper form...

I would have pretended that you meant to say "many chicks" but put the n in the wrong place and left out the c because your mother taught you it was wrong to use "c" when talking about women.

Anyway, I'm sure you and killjoy are banned now.

Poor Max' thread is on the road to beinhg hijacked, so in an attempt to subvert this let me say:

who gives a crap about the internet and computers? I would rather be in a pasture in russia walking amongst my cattle, as long as it is not near Chernobyl. And also have a beautifull russian woman in a flannel shirt waiting at home for me, laying in front of a roaring fire etc...sigh! Snow too lots of snow.

No I don't see it, interesting.
So you probably don't see mine either?
I've had a couple(in different threads) and wondered why no one else got any ever, but it seems you can only see your own.

Gross.
I agree, especially with the flannel shirt part.
I would rather be hunting the hart on horseback in royal forests while a beautiful english rose wearing a bed sheet waited for me back at the manor playing her harp.
I guess john and I aren't that different, just russian and english blood running through our veins respectively.

Roman would rather be hiding under an amazons skirt while she punched giant anteaters in the face.
I can't figure out what is running through his veins. Estrogen?

I punched some english blood in the face last weekend. Felt good. English blood's a little weaker in the South than it is in the UK, though. Didn't look so inbred. Good teeth, too.

Yeah, yeah...
You guys are all kooks.

Me-
I'd rather be down on the ol' Tex-Mex border shootin' holes in illegal alien sumbitches with a 50-cal sniper rifle with a night sight, while some Hollywood whore dressed in a PVC bustier, sheer black thong, and thigh-high dragoon boots lays out lines of coke & rolls spliffs back at the geodysic dome/dungeon a-waitin' fer me ta git back there & spank her sweet hot ass cherry red with an al-yoo-minium spatula while I bellow out the Battle Hymn of the Republic and shoot holes in the ceiling with my nickel-plated Desert Eagle automatic...

Do you troll on a throne built from the bones of the stillborn?

Baron:
Here's a link from wikipedia:

No numbers, and I wouldn't trust it entirely. Wikipedia isn't very accurate or impartial when it comes to the social sciences. Read with a grain of salt? And who knows, you might find a link or a phrase to google for.
