View Full Version : Ladies, how big do you like your men?
blackmonkeystatue 05-27-04, 02:04 AM No, no, not that kind of big. I mean muscle big.
Time has taken it's toll and I'm not really what I was in college. A few weeks ago I joined a gym and have been working out a good amount to try and get some (any) shape back. I'm no more than average from any angle to give you an idea. At the gym I see pretty big guys, some huge, others simply just big...but all of them able to curl on a single arm my 1 rep bench max.
So, my question is how big do you women like your men? Attracting women is obviously part of the reason these guys want to get big. In magezines and in commercials the model guys are these really thin, feminine looking guys that have abs but not much more...wipmy at the most (and their faces look like women). Is that what women want? In movies the guys are big (even huge) guys will muscles everywhere and veins criss-crossing, and muscles on muscles and could easily beat the snot out of the feminine guy models. Is that what women want? What do women look for? What catches their eye and attracts then the most? I don't really have much hope of being either, but I'm very curious.
Maybe some of you could give me some info on this because it's something I've been wondering about. Thanks.
Personally, I tend to get turned off when I see beefcake. I prefer intelligence and sense of humour. The beefcake look is just nasty. They look abnormal... as though they've stopped off at the bicycle pump and blown themselves up to look like that.. as I said.. I find it personally nasty. And it's worse when they've bleached their hair blonde because I keep wanting to ask them if their name is Sven.
But some women get off on it (don't ask me why). I think the real question is why would any guy want to change himself to appease the selfish needs of a woman? And if a woman only goes out with a guy for their looks or their beefcake ability, then they should be questioning their ability.
There's beefcake, and then there's Brad Pitt.
A sixpack, pecs, some biceps, a general "fit" look will almost always attract women. It may not be the sole reason a woman decides to date you, but it may be what causes her to consider dating you.
SoLiDUS 05-27-04, 10:02 PM Exactly. Initial attraction (ok, maybe not if your first meeting is online) is entirely
physical, so if you look like Eric Cartman, consider yourself defeated. ;)

Well said. No matter how many women tell you that looks don't matter they always do matter and rightly so because guys are just as shallow if not horribly more.
..but as most of us will testify, 1 hour into conversation and looks become a second priority.
I like men who are gently muscled, and sleek. HUge muscles...there's nothing to pinch poke and it leaves nothing to the imagination.
SwedishFish 05-30-04, 09:58 AM i like to look at brad pitt but i wouldn't date him. those guys are for looking pretty and not much else. give me a huuuuge brain and he's the hottest thing alive in my eyes. so i won't speak for other women. if you're going for the type of girl who likes muscles, might as well go as big as you can but not big enough such that you break your own bones by flexing.
ewwww big muscles are funny looking.
No swedishfish, you do speak for other women on this topic. Me being one of them. :p Give me intelligence and humour any day.
Women who only go for looks are shallow. The same goes for men who only go for looks. Eye candy is one thing, but brain candy is another thing altogether. :D
SwissMiss 09-26-04, 02:22 AM Men who are so muscly that can't seem to put their arms down straight to their sides and seem to walk around like robots...not cool. A guy is nice when toned, not stick skinny but some muscle and some stomach defenition.
dixonmassey 09-26-04, 02:26 AM you better "pump" up your checking account, everything else is secondary.
OverTheStars 09-26-04, 09:59 AM I prefer skinny, wimpy looking men; they look great in my clothes.
Closet Philosopher 09-26-04, 01:38 PM I prefer small-medium build. I also have this thing for men that are my height (5'6). I fall for his personality more than looks. I think that as long as he is decently dressed and shows that he takes care of himself, then he's fine. I hate these "beefcake" men. It's like they are compensating for being small in other areas.
s t e p h 09-26-04, 01:56 PM ill give you some examples
LL Cool J - errr to big
Ja Rule, 2 pac etc - nice (but without the tatoos and stuff)
what about you other gyals, do you like beig beefy or medium build and muscley
A guy should have abds..... that's for sure.
Regarding everything else medium build is good. Too skinny, fat or too much muscles do not look attractive to me.
meh... not really too keen on skinny blokes, not much to hold on to lol. Dont like then with too much muscle either - total turn off! Nice broad shoulders, a big guy (taller than me, maybe wider too lol) and nothing overly toned would do fine :D
Closet Philosopher 09-27-04, 02:42 PM Medium is nice. Abs tha show are always an asset. I don't like the guys with huge disgusting arms though.
NightFall 09-27-04, 11:18 PM i could never date arnold. ewwwwwwwww.
as long as you can open the pickle jar, thats all i ask.

Seemingly mediocre insults often speak louder than a crowd.
Ya have insecurities. Ya know it's true.
