Greetings,

Just wanted to see if anyone else out there has experienced anything similar...

Two weeks ago I got a new LCD monitor, a Samsung SyncMaster 931BF 19". I love it, but since I've gotten it, weird CPU stuff goes on. My AsusProbe has been informing me that my CPU Temp is cruising at around 47 C [116 F], whereas when I was using a 17" CRT, my average CPU Temp was around 10 degrees lower. This is the only stat that has changed; MB temp, and all fan speeds have remained unchanged. I imagine I'm going to head BIOS way and change the default CPU fan speed to try and compensate, but as I can't see why this would be happening, I thought I'd see what other's have experienced.
TIA

The obvious question would be: Have you changed your display settings? ie increased you resolution, bit depth or frequency. If so then your graphics card will have to do more work and thus will heat up a little. Also you may have moved your computer and change the airflow characteristics.

47c is no big deal and will not effect performance. It is nothing to worry about.

I switched to a 17" LCD recently, and haven't noticed anything different. I still have the same old hot-running Pentium 4.

If anything, it runs cooler now, becuase it isn't as hot here as it was back at home.

My guess is that it is one of two things:

#1 You changed resolutions and now are pushing your graphics chip harder
#2 In the process of plugging in the new mointor accidentally bumped something in the case that now causes it not to shed heat quite as well.
