CLEVELAND (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich is abandoning his second bid for the White House.

In an interview with the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the congressman said he was quitting the race and would made a formal announcement Friday.

"I want to continue to serve in Congress," he told the newspaper. Kucinich said he will not endorse another Democrat in the primary.

Knew this was coming of course but it still kind of sucks. I liked to see him out there.

Interesting. Apparently he's not going to endorse a Democrat in the primaries.

Kucinich did what he could in elevating the debate under the circumstances. He didn't go meekly to the sidelines, and he won't stay there quietly. Those of us aware of the fundamental shortcomings of our Presidential Pageant Show may be disappointed, but not surprised.

you know what i find bemusing about the whole US election race?
If the canditates acted here like they are there, in public here the media would be reporting on the internal implosion of the party. You would also see only one side doing it (becuse this sort of ledership turmoil only goes on when a party is in trouble), the other side would be gleafully throwing question after question at them especially if its the goverment imploding (if its the oposition then it would manifest as snide remarks and media confrences).

We're stymied by a crisis of identity. We are experiencing a collective cognitive dissonance that pervades our political institutions, because we are a great nation struggling deeply with the monstrous realization that we have lost track of who we collectively are, what we are doing, and why. We're uninspired, and no fanfare or bluster can mask our obvious political debilitation.

There are more replies in this thread than there were primary voters for Kucinich.
