Man mauled to death by tiger he fought to keep.

Does this qualify as Irony ? Or just humorous ? Or is it just sad ?

    It just made me laugh.

Well I don't think he deserved to die but he shouldn't be keeping a tiger as a pet. It's not fair to them, they should be out in the wild. They're not domestic creatures.

He deserved to die because that's what his own actions led to. If you base jump and you die because of it, you deserved it. If you intentionally put yourself in harms way you deserve the consequences.
I take it the tiger was not put back in nature so that's why I put 'kind of'.

So when I go mountain biking, I deserve to die or suffer severe injury, because I am intentionally putting myself in harm's way?

I don't believe that. Sure, you have to accept that there are consequences you might not like, and you can't exactly call yourself a victim, but it's a different thing to actually deserve harm.

Well, you accept the fact that you might get harmed, right? Otherwise you wouldn't do it.
Alright, perhaps 'deserve' is a bit strong..
Perhaps "you had it coming" would be more appropriate

Isn't that just daily life though? There's a risk if I leave the house that all number of things could happen, but hell there's a risk if I don't leave the house a whole set of other things could happen. There's a percentage chance my boiler could explode, granted not much of a percentage, but it's there.

I see, but what I said is "If you intentionally put yourself in harms way..".
What exactly constitutes putting yourself in harms way deserves to be looked at.
Obviously how much you deserve harm would be tied with the chance you run of actually getting harmed, plus you have to be aware of the danger.

I think anyone will agree that someone that runs across a busy highway blindfolded, and gets hit by a car, had it coming. I say that someone deserved it.

I don't think babies intentionally have themselves born, nor do babies understand the dangers of life.

Any exotic or wild animal should be left alone in its own habitat and not allowed to be "owned" by anyone and that includes zoos as well. wild animals are not cared for and not put into their own environments by most people who capture them. It is a very sad life for most wild animals for most of them end up in small cages, neglected and die a horrible death without anyone ever helping them. At least in the wild they are free to do their own thing and live a life they make for themselves unless hunters kill them or capture them.

Well, that's kinda what I was getting at.

Yes, but I'm sure there are crazy stats like "you're more likely to die in a car accident on your way to a bungee jump, than in a bungee accident" or "you're 3 times more likely to be raped by a family member than a stranger" etc. So if I have more regular contact with my family than strangers, I'm putting myself in danger right?

Well, see above point about statistics.
Besides, what is the point in living if you can't feel alive?

EDIT: I guess most people here either live in ignorance, or have accepted realistically they could die at any moment from any number of accidents.
I suppose we could always take to living in a cave, losing our social skills away from society..... I think we might have finally managed to explain draq.... Perhaps he's Draq bin laden? Or more accurately - Draq never bin laden.....

Yeah that's more of an appropriate phrase.

Saying someone deserved it implied that it was an appropriate thing to happen, that it should have happened.

I don't know if it's true but, I heard a story about a small group of people protesting the killing of pigs outside a slaughter house. While they were outside protesting the pigs broke out of the slaughter house ran down the hill and trampled the protesters to death. That's ironic. Trying to save some pigs from death and in return are killed by those very same pigs.
