What would you rather have if you only can have one of them: a kid or a dog?

Although I am a catperson, this is still an easy choice for me: a dog!!

I was walking my dog today and the mother of 2 told me she loves her dog occasionally more than her kids. I am not surprized! After all a dog loves you unconditionally, you always know what you are going to get, and it doesn't talk back!! Not to mention, much cheaper...

Why would anybody want a kid when they can have dogs???

Depends. If the kid is 18 I'll take the kid! Otherwise, gimme a cat.

18 is the worst. Instead of moving out and live on their own, you either pay for college or their boy/girlfriend is moving in, with a kid!! :)

Genji, you'd better not be talking about using the kid for incestual purposes. :bugeye:

Exactly.. it's sickening.

Why stay in the US where they need to be 18?

Come to Europe and enjoy some 16 year olds :)

When they're not related to you, of course.

Course I do :(

I guess being 20, 16 year olds seem fair game to me.

Well I've had the choice for my whole life and I consistently chose pets over kids. Cats, dogs, parrots, macaws.

I wish wombats were available in the USA, I understand they're rather sweet.

This leads too much into a moral issue about what is the priority: humans or animals. For instance, what happens if you already have a dog, and have a girlfriend who gets knocked up. What is the priority?

The first dog my family ever had was a Cocker Spaniel. Very unfortunately, it bit part of my brother's ear off so my parents had to get rid of it. I was too young to remember this and don't know what ever happened to the spaniel.

Wombats aren't sweet, they are freakin vicious, like tiny bears. They bite.

Kids are difficult but I gues deep inside every one next to the self destruct button and they hey let's get really drunk hint their is this little code that says you better have some kids.

I don't think it is a moral choice, it is a style/preference choice. Now, one can end up in a situation where he/she has to choose between the 2 options, but they can't deny the FEELING, whom they love more.

One of my dogwalking buddies just had a new baby. He still loves his dog better, and he feels BAD about it, but that is how it is....

Dogs are an easier responsibility to accept; they only require the basics, plus a little TLC.

Children require much more sacrifice of the parent(s). While some consider the rewards as far outstripping the work; I don't, I've actually come to the decision already that I don't want children. I don't think I'll ever be ready for that sort of responsibility. May sound selfish, but that's how I feel. The human race will continue, there are billions of us reproducing.

I've 2 rottweilers at the moment :)
