Well then, in nearly three years of my being here I have not seen one person, I repeat, one person here mention the name 'Judge Dredd'. Why is this? And why has it taken me so long to realise such a heresy?
So come on, own up. Who here has read a Judge Dredd 'graphic novel' or one of the plethora of novels he stars in? Or even in the bowels of the 2000AD comic he calls home?
I myself have been a fan of his stories for a good seven years now. I would like to kow if anyone else here has even given a second glance this truely classic British SciFi universe? (Anyone who mentions the movie shall be gutted and hung to dry until you are ready to be feast upon).

Judge Dredd Rules, and you rule. I had such a hard time finding JD when I was younger, i missed the original series and caught the republishings.
But I love the world, I had toys, collectible cards, comics and a poster when I was a kid. recently I saw that they have made a Judge Dredd RPG, which I think would rule.
I recently posted about post-apocalypse thread and I thought I mentioned it on there, if i didn't then I was crazy, It is one of the greatest of them all.

I would delete this thread, but you're my friend, Thor. I'll withhold my murderous impulses for a couple of more days (Start running).
Ah excellent! A fan! I love you ZM. I discovered him by chance in my local library when I was totally bored out of my skull. But I do not regret it. The first thing I ever read was The Apocolypse War. Simply amazing.
Yesterday I have just finished the book, Bad Moon Rising. An utterly incredible account of alien racism in the 22nd century. Now I'm onto Black Atlantic (for those who do not know, the Black Atlantic is the normal Atlantic, only filled with oil and black. Has many floating cities and is home to refugees, mutants and outcasts.)
The great thing, in my head at least, about Judge Dredd is that the writers have taken onboard the timeframe. The Apoclypse War was written nigh on 20 years ago and in everything I read last year, they took place 20 years after the Apocolypse War. Genius methinks, it keeps continuity running.
Also, anyone played the recent game, Dredd vs Death? Slated by critics but I've found a decent game under the initial bugs.
And the movie, grud that had a lot of potential. Stallone is in my shitlist for that. That movie was apparently good before he made all those changes. Stallone even insisted on removing the helmet which wasn't in the original drafts. Dickhead.
Anyway, back to your post, I kind of gave up on that post-apocolyptic thread after a while (as I always do) so I guess I must've missed it. And I wasn't as fortunate to have gotten any of the toys or cards. Lucky sunnuvaslitch...
Eh, CC, what's the hubbub about. Nothing wrong with this thread!

HHmm, years since i read any judge dread. I wasnt much into comics back then, read a few at a friends. The movie was bad, it would have been far better if he had kept his helmet on, that was half the characterisation shot for starters.
Exactimondo, Judge Dredd is supposed to remain anominous. Removing the helmet personlised him and more or less ruined the whole concept. Whenever I read a novel, all I can picture is Sly. Yip-ee
