"ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - The Justice Department on Wednesday defied a federal judge for the second time, refusing to allow Zacarias Moussaoui to question senior al-Qaida captives in preparation for his criminal trial."

This is interesting....they claim it would hurt national security for them to let these people talk, but these people are all already in custody. What could they possibly tell each other that would hurt national security anyway?

For the justice dept. to defy a judge is a pretty major thing. Whats the reasoning here?

This guilty guy should not be allowed to talk!!!

What? He has not been condamned yet? Oh, then he is still "innocent"... that change everything! Or is it an other problem in the Justice system?

It just goes to show that our "new and improved" executive branch feels they do not have to answer to anyone.

What is a problem with the justice system? The fact that we are considered innocent until proven guilty?

I agree with "innocent until proven guilty", but it seems to be a theory in the US system. Why an "innocent" guy would not be allowed to talk to whoever he wants ?

FYI, you can write more than one sentence per post... :D

For example, they could have told person A. that person B. betrayed him, hoping that person B. starts to talk etc... You don't want to have person B. communicate with person A. to find out it is just a lie etc... I can think of numerous strategical reasons why they don't want these people to communicate/ allowing them to choose a common groupstrategy.....

Also, what kind of dirty usa government laundry could some of them expose ??? Maybe nothing at all, but we must always be carefull that "matters of national security" become a one-size-fits-all shield to cover up shit.
