If eventually a large majority of members on these forums start paying, will ordinary members be locked out of some forums i.e. not have the right to post in some sections? I just wondered when i read that more priveledges will be added in future. I dont see this question anywhere so i thought i would just ask.

I doubt that would happen. Subscribing is a way to help out with the payments...I think Porfiry is still going to be paying for the costs. If you become a "subscriber" you get the privilege to sport an avatar and probably a few more cool things that make the site even more interesting. Only if Porifry want to make SciForums a business will he start to block out sections to regular people. Though I don't think that's what is on his mind.

Even if wanted to run it as a 'business', it'd make no sense to lock non-paying members out of certain forums. This is a discussion site, and to curtail discussion in any way doesn't make sense.

That would be weird leaving people out of bringing in information. Most people here (well atleast me) come here to gather information and different opinions on subjects leaving people out of replying would therefor be not desirable imo.

/edit: a spelling checker would be desirable though (for me)

use the dictionary there. If this is not an option for you, there are
a few web-based checkers available like: http://www.spellcheck.net/

Peace.
