I installed pc-cillin on my computer last night bacause
it came with my motherboard/grapchic card.
Now......i normally dont bother to fill out registration forms
but in this case i did anyway. I even filled out my cell phone
number and today at work some guy from JAPAN gave me
a call. Since i work at a construction site it was hard to hear
what he said +the fact that his English were rather poor so
i told him to call me "sometime later on".

I got one question, perhaps there are people here that works
within the software industry that might shed some light?
Why would a company based in Japan, call me all over here
in Scandinavia? Im sure they get 1000 registration forms a week.
I try to reason, to come up with an answer but im not sure
if i can trust my way of thinking in this matter. I think perhaps
they want to send me a beta product for testing or something?

Any thoughts? :bugeye:

well, they may not get many people that fill out their phone #s, so they may have had time to call u.
but more likely, it may have just been something involving ur work or just advertiseing

if you fit a certain group that is most likely to buy their products then they will be interested in your opinion
since you listed your cell number they might well call just to show they have good customer service
quality of service along-side a stable product makes a market winner
genraly speaking

groove on :)

Not detected by the bios or by windows? Do you have a tech support thingy at work?

I'd say there is a simple answer to this:

The company hires people to "market research" based upon details that people send to them, this means a person sits there all day with the job of ringing people up.

Now such jobs would have a quota of calls that have to be made, so if they don't have enough nearby numbers to ring they are going to "buzz" further a field just to meet their quota and stay in a job.

Since the guy is using a company phone then he's not going to be worried by cost or distance, and their might even be a clause in their quota where they have to ring "one international".

[None of the above is a fact though, I just couldn't help but add something to this]

None the less, I have worked out that the NTL guys over in the UK tend to tell people that you can't have Cable connected to your home just so you keep calling back expecting for NTL to eventually connect your area.

The reality is simple, Fill in the NTL form at their site www.NTL.com it takes a little longer, but you find out they will connect you. It seems the guys keep themselves in a job by filling their quota with the amount of un-necessary calls made enquirying whether they can have a connection now.
