Also, Ken Lay said the same thing before Enron collapsed. Republicans have proven that their economic policies are disastrous.

He doesn't know how to use a computer. He probably relies on something archaic as a basis for his judgement.

Obama has used the word "change" over a thousand times and yet he still accepts "soft money" from many companies.

I have read a study about Republicans that says that they tend to be more fearful than Democrats. Maybe it's genetic. Maybe that's why they turn to comforting ideologies and ideologues, remember how they loved Reagan? He would always come on with a reassuring voice and tell us things weren't so bad. That's what McCain is trying to do. It doesn't matter what is happening, his role is to be the father figure that will comfort us and take care of the mess and the less we know about it the better.

Too right.

And now Democrats, (Obama) are sooooooo comforting.

Obama had a choice, get elected or be 100% principled like a Kucinich or Paul. He knows how to play the game, but once he gets in power, I believe he will govern differently than any other recent president.

They aren't. They don't work like Republicans. They aren't going to sugar-coat the situation. They will be comforting by presenting reasonable solutions to our current multiple crises.

Just goes to show that any political system is contingent on the premise that the future will be more prosperous than the present. Break that premise and you can shatter the political system. I wonder, if the US economy is severely curtailed, what will it become, more liberal or more conservative?

They'll be comforting my presenting or supporting bills that are virtually worthless (economic stimulus package). I acknowledge that McCain does too, but I strongly disagree with him on this point.

If it's conservative policies that caused the collapse (and it is), then liberal policies will prevail as they did after the last Republican economic collapse (the Great Depression).

FDR was doing okay, but it took a great big WAR (ahem) to really get things going. And what is Obama hardlining against now? Hmmm, let's think.

Not necessarily, the people are pretty clueless. And whats a conservative policy? The bail-out will cost the dollar dearly. Did you hear the speech by the Germans today?

A war... and the nationalization of industries. That certainly wasn't the free market at all.

A bailout isn't necessarily partisan, but the problem that led to it was. Deregulation was the problem, and I think people get it.

Partly, spider. Deregulation wasn't the problem, but rampant deregulation, deregulation without limit.
