View Full Version : Jeremy Clarkson under fire.
Captain Kremmen 11-04-08, 07:11 AM (UK TV)
I can't believe it.
200 people have already complained about Jeremy Clarkson's Top Gear, just because he insinuated that Lorry Drivers murder prostitutes.
Now they are on TV with their screwed up self righteous faces saying that he is laughing about attacks on wimmin, and calling for his resignation.
Why on earth would any sensitive person be watching Clarkie, when at the same time on the other channel there was Brucie and his pansy ballroom dancers?
Steve100 11-04-08, 07:29 AM What's gone off?
I didn't see the latest episodes.
Captain Kremmen 11-04-08, 07:57 AM It was just Clarkson being his usual politically incorrect self.
When they attacked Jonathon Ross they had an easy target.
I don't think they will pick off Clarkson so easily.
But if they succeed they will ruin Top Gear.
cosmictraveler 11-04-08, 08:10 AM Top Gear was an interesting show to view for they show some of the past episodes but it looks a bit dated and worn out now so perhaps they are just trying to get rid of the old stick in the mud.
wsionynw 11-04-08, 08:21 AM Top Gear bores me, and Clarkson belongs in the stone age. The joke was funny for the first of the new series, then it just got stupid and with too much boys toys mentality.
Hopefully it will be an excuse for the BBC to get rid of him and he can spend the rest of his days writing tripe for the Daily Mail.
phlogistician 11-04-08, 08:44 AM Steve Wright, Alun Kyte, Derek Brown, Volker Eckert, and Peter Sutcliffe were all lorry drivers, and all convicted for murdering prostitutes, Wright fairly recently.
So it's become something of a cliche, with even the Police potentially attributing unsolved murders of crimes to Lorry Drivers. It was typical politically incorrect Clarkson, and it seems you can't say anything on TV now without someone complaining, even if they actually saw the show or not.

because they are looking for somthing to complain about, persoanlly i think Richard Hammond is the funny guy in Top Gear,

I visited my parents recently, and being old folks, had Brucie on. I was surprised how much tits and ass were on show. I might start a campaign of complaint, because everyone complains about everything now it seems :-) and it would be ironic.
mikenostic 11-04-08, 09:21 AM Top Gear bores me, and Clarkson belongs in the stone age. The joke was funny for the first of the new series, then it just got stupid and with too much boys toys mentality.
Top Gear bores me too...mainly because of Clarkson's fat ass. He has very little actual knowledge about vehicles, he is biased towards British cars, and against German ones. It doesn't matter if the British car is a total piece of shit (as British cars often are), Clarkson never gives them a bad review. Likewise with German cars, regardless of how well they perform, that fat fuck always finds a way to slam them.
Tiff Needell and Vicky Butler-Henderson need to be the hosts of that show.
Hopefully it will be an excuse for the BBC to get rid of him and he can spend the rest of his days writing tripe for the Daily Mail.
I sure hope so.

i absolutly 100% disagree, clarkson can be a total twonk at times but he is also funny at times, vicky butler henderson knows jack shit about cars and even less about how they work, and tiff needell....well he's just an asshat
phlogistician 11-04-08, 11:41 AM vicky butler henderson knows jack shit about cars
I'd totally do her though.

Vicky knows infinitely more about cars than fat boy does and so does Tiff. And in case you've been living under a rock for the past decade or so, Top Gear is a show about CARS.
Clarkson is a bigger (both literally and figuratively) asshat than Tiff will ever be.
If you want entertainment, go watch a soap opera sweetheart, not a frickin car show.
Anti-Flag 11-04-08, 01:13 PM And in case you've been living under a rock for the past decade or so, Top Gear is a show about CARS.
I remember a time when that was true, nothing but cars and all kinds of info all the way through. Personally it bored me to tears. I accidentally managed to catch one of the revamped shows with clarkson and co and thought it was brilliant. It appeals to a wider demographic, those who like cars but don't take an interest in them particularly seriously. I'd venture to say that's the majority of the current viewing audience.
I know a lot of people who wouldn't watch it if it went back to the old format.
Captain Kremmen 11-04-08, 01:25 PM Same here.
I have very little interest in cars, but it is one of my favourite programmes.
Dr Lou Natic 11-04-08, 04:39 PM I don't like cars at all, but I love top gear, and especially clarkson. He is the show.
Saying that I also hate him, it's wierd.
I haven't seen the lorry drivers murder prostitutes crack but it sounds good.
I wouldn't worry, Top Gear is too popular to be effected by outraged fags, like south park. They could pretty much do anything.
Ghost_007 11-04-08, 05:11 PM I've never really liked Jeremy Clarkson, he isn't that funny and he kisses too much arse (guests that appear on Top Gear). Top Gear can easily be carried by Richard Hammond and the under-rated James May. Jeremy Clarkson reminds me of an old uncle that hangs around younger guys trying really hard to be cool (and relevant). Jeremy Clarkson belongs in the 90s.
Regarding his joke, who gives a shit. I think people are more annoyed with the fact that people like Clarkson get paid so much for doing so little. He is not a massive superstar and he isn't that talented. The BBC needs to cut down the wages of people like Clarkson.
Captain Kremmen 11-04-08, 06:11 PM For anyone that missed it, this is what Clarkson said:
(He was driving a large lorry)
“This is a hard job and I’m not just saying that to win favour with lorry drivers, it’s a hard job.
“Change gear, change gear, change gear, check mirror, murder a prostitute, change gear, change gear, murder. That’s a lot of effort in a day.”
Offcom are set to reject the complaints anyway, but to think that 500 people took the trouble to complain.
If he was sacked for this, they might as well take comedy off British television. There would only be "Last of the Summer Wine" left.
The Jonathon Ross issue was different.
Intimidating an old man by leaving obscene messages on his answering machine.
There was no humour in that.
Dr Lou Natic 11-04-08, 06:23 PM Hammond is clearly the weak link. Clarkson is ugly and annoying, but I think people are getting those flaws mixed up with being not funny. There's no doubt he's the funniest and most entertaining one.
Captain Kremmen 11-04-08, 06:35 PM They all have faults, but they complement each other.
I never miss it.
Clarkson is clever and pompous, but looks like a sack of potatoes.
The other two never mention his appearance, so it must be a taboo subject.
May is careful and cultured, and is the butt of the other two's homophobic jokes.
Hammond is perfectly formed, but tiny.
His bright little mousy face makes you want to slap it.
Dr Lou Natic 11-04-08, 10:59 PM They all have faults, but they complement each other.
I never miss it.
I agree actually, hammond is my least favourite but I'd be really annoyed if he left, he's a vital element. It's a strangely perfect balance of personalities, and that's the appeal of the show. Fuck cars. Cars really have very little to do with it.
The dumbest thing I heard about was australia buying the format of the show, and then getting three random stooges to present it. It's one of the most boneheaded purchases I've ever heard of because the show IS those 3 guys. There's nothing especially good about the show itself other than the people presenting it.

But there the blame lies solely with the editorial staff, who passed the material for broadcast. If it hadn't been broadcast, it would have remained a private matter between the Ross and Sachs, and to be honest, considering Sach's granddaughter makes lesbian porno vids, I doubt Sachs would have been that upset by the comments, she's hardly a nun.
Now it's been blown up by the press, we all associate Sachs with his sleazy grand daughter, that has rather back fired.

and for a more entertaining night, you can take me outside and shoot me through the head....twice!!
ok i admit clarkson can be a twonk but he is funny, and Hammond just amkes the show anyway, he is the best one out of him and clarkson

The editorial staff probably treat Ross like royalty, and wouldn't dare to question him. He should have more sense.
Infringing on someone's home and family is unforgiveable.
She may be a slut, but not to her Grandfather, hopefully.
I wouldn't blame Russell Brand. If you bring home a puppy, at some point it's going to pee on the carpet.
The press have hyped it up because they are owned by competitors of the BBC. Cameron has already said that he plans to clip the BBC's wings, which should endear him to Murdoch's press. Little toad.
The BBC produce some of the best programs in the world.
They have had some real failures recently, such as Bones, and Junior Spooks (or whatever it was called), but Little Dorrit and Merlin are BBC classics. As is Top Gear in its way.

Steve100 11-05-08, 03:53 PM I bet all the people who complained have had a chuckle at some of his other jokes. So they should know what to expect.
Dr Lou Natic 11-05-08, 06:53 PM It's just a hilarious comment. Who's offended anyway? Prostitutes? truck drivers? Does anyone care about either of those communities?
We definately shouldn't. I can't help but draw paralels to when I (and others) come under fire for insulting the lower eschalons of sciforums, they simply aren't worth inhibitting the output of the upper eschalon. Not their existence on sciforums, and certainly not their feelings.
Same thing here.
I don't think it will happen, but it is scary to think Clarkson might engage in self-censorship due to shit like this, it would absolutely ruin top gear if any of them felt like they should be careful with what they say.
Much like sciforums has been ruined due to the overhanging threat of bans.
Captain Kremmen 11-06-08, 05:18 AM Now the MP for Ipswich has got in on the act.
MP Christopher Mole, chief of the Molepeople, is calling for Clarkson to resign.
It appears that the swamp dwelling East Anglians think he was referring to them.

I refer the 'Honorable gentleman' Mole to my post;
http://www.sciforums.com/showpost.php?p=2076935&postcount=6
Where I named 5 lorry driving prostitute murderers.
I think Mole is just trying to get Ipswich in the press. But reminding the nation it's where five murders took place isn't exactly the method the local Tourist Board would recommend.
I think Mole should resign, for being yet another complaining follower.
On another tangent, I see Ms Baillie was on TV last night, and just in case we thought it had all blown over, has managed to squeeze a few more tabloid column inches out of the sordid affair by accepting Ross and Brand's apology. Ah, what a sweetie,... or maybe the public backlash against her, and the less than supportive comments on her Bebo page made her realise she'd misjudged the non-Daily Mail readers reactions.
Captain Kremmen 11-06-08, 09:51 AM Casualties so far are zero apart from the Director of radio 2, whose resignation the BBC cowardly accepted as a token sacrifice, despite her having nothing to do with it.
It's like the managing director of British Rail resigning because a contractor failed to check their work properly and caused a train wreck.
No Jonathon Ross for three months. That's a plus if anything.
Russel Brand is on channel four now. BBC's loss, no-one else's.
His new series is hilarious. But channel 4 will be monitoring him carefully if they have any sense.
He could do anything. As with many very talented entertainers, he has clinical psychological problems.
Clarkson will be vindicated and be more politically incorrect than ever.
Everyone knows that when a prostitute is murdered, the police are looking carefully at lorry drivers.
Serial killers of prostitutes are nearly always lorry drivers.
In fact, Jack the Ripper was probably a lorry driver.
Clarkson's joke was that it was an everyday part of the lorry driver's work.
It's only a joke if you know that it is not true.
That's the essence of the joke molepeople.
Otherwise it would be a documentary wouldn't it.:wallbang:
For purely prurient reasons, I intended to watch Miss Baillie last night, but didn't.
Must have forgotten. Or was recording something else.
Cellar_Door 11-06-08, 03:20 PM Hopefully it will be an excuse for the BBC to get rid of him and he can spend the rest of his days writing tripe for the Daily Mail.
I think Jeremy Clarkson would rather diminish and commit suicide than work for the Daily Mail.

Maybe he doesn't like the insinuation that all people who murder prostitutes drive trucks.
Captain Kremmen 11-07-08, 02:50 AM Good point.
Respectable prostitute murderers are being given a bad name.
phlogistician 11-07-08, 09:27 AM Maybe he doesn't like the insinuation that all people who murder prostitutes drive trucks.
Yeah, some of them are MP's, by the looks of. That dude is sinister.
Stryder 11-09-08, 08:28 PM What keeps ratings pumped.... Controversy. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a continuing trend, at least until the Chairman of the Board has a stiff talk to everyone and reminds them of their place (i.e. "Cameron or Murdock... take your pick!")
MetaKron 11-10-08, 12:40 AM People who like Jeremy Clarkson could make a show of support.

They do, millions tune in each week still. It only takes a fraction of a percent to make as stink however.
Captain Kremmen 11-12-08, 08:02 AM The Mail and the Telegraph say that people are now complaining about Clarkson because he gave an American cop the finger. (This Sunday's broadcast)
Are people just watching it now just to find some tiny thing to moan about?
The newspaper links to this seem to have been pulled.
G. F. Schleebenhorst 11-18-08, 07:35 AM Regarding his joke, who gives a shit. I think people are more annoyed with the fact that people like Clarkson get paid so much for doing so little. How can you say this? Have you seen how much footballers get paid?
