The reason why I ask is... does anyone here like jazz? Because I'm kinda new to it. I just want to experiment with some jazz. For piano, btw?

Do you know some good jazz piano?

The key element of jazz is improvisation. You can get sheet music that shows you an Art Tatum piano performance but even if you play it well and note-for-note you're not really playing jazz because you're not improvising. Tatum, on the other hand, would take a piece of popular music (e.g., I Cover the Waterfront) and make it jazz by improvising.

When I was playing (and learning) piano, I used to play boogie-woogie piano from sheet music because it helped build up my left hand and was more fun than classical exercises. It would sound like jazz but I wouldn't say it was. I'd say if you really want to learn how to play jazz you should probably start with a book on jazz improvisation.

    Not sure if that helps.
