Seriously, how have people not jumped all over this?

Did anybody see the breakdown? I sure did. Actually, I only saw part of it. . . I literally had to change the station because I was so embarrassed for her.

Weird. I mean, just weird. People keep saying that she "stumbled", but that doesn't even touch the tip of the iceberg. A stumble is a blip, a brief divergence from the structured talking points. Brewer frakking crashed and burned, killing a busload of nuns just before slamming into a school for handicapped children.

I know the temptation is to somehow link this nonsense to her political ideology (which may well be true), but she's just crazy.

Even more interesting, this probably won't cost her the election.

So, ...are you thinking that she's the first person on Earth that that's ever happened to?

So she was caught making up stories or not fact checking before she repeated made up stories. I don't think Republican voters punish their fellow Republicans for making up stories.

She still is ahead in polls. I think Arizonans like her basic attitudes. Now will the registered independents hold her telling untrue stories against her or her attitude that she should not be judged for telling untrue stories against her?

If most people had a problem with story tellers pretending false stuff was true then Limbaugh would not have such good ratings.

Will telling nasty lies about Mexicans cost you votes in Arizona? Will confronting people who tell lies about Mexicans cost you votes in Arizona because if you are not antagonistic enough towards Mexicans then you are "not one of us". I know Mccain's true feelings on Mexican illegal immigrants. I thinks America needs them because that is what the business owners that he associates with have convinced him of. But McCain found out that he had better start saying nasty stuff about Mexicans if he wanted to stay in office. I am not sure that Brewer will be hurt by lying about things that Mexicans do as much as Democrats will be hurt by not seeming sufficiently anti-Mexican when they confront her on her lies.

"In April, Sen. John McCain (R), who was in a tough primary fight, told Fox News host Bill O’Reilly that “drivers of cars with illegals in it … are intentionally causing accidents on the freeway."

Yeah I don't think Republicans, Tea Partiers, et al care if their officials lie to them, because they never punish them for same.

She was elected Secretary of State, and she's really not a "politician". Historically; her speeches have been rather poor in comparison to others running for a governor position. However, she's done a fantastic job in Arizona as acting governor.

People continuously complain about our politicians being politicians, and when someone gets elected who isn't a blue-blooded politician...they're criticized. Damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess. Her words were weak, but her actions are very representative of the Arizona populous. My guess for why, is - she was really born and raised here, and she understands its problems.

    it wasn't that shocking ....

She does seem like she may have early stages of dementia though - in the past this would have made her a GOP-prophetess

Indeed, well I think she is typical of a number of GOP candidates. There is not a lot of air between her and Angle (running for the Senate in Nevada). Both are running from the press - except Fox News where the Republican candidate can control the questions being asked.

I actually thought it was a bit sad to be honest. Freezing like that can and does happen to everyone at some point in time. One person had it happen to him when he was delivering his vows at his wedding. Had memorised it and when it came time to deliver, he basically stood there and babbled like a lunatic and could not remember a single thing he had written down.

I don't think she is suffering from dementia. She just froze and probably went blank.

The pause in speaking in the little linked to video clip does not show anything noteworthy. She said nothing wrong or strange in that video. Four 3/4 second pauses are not much to get excited about,

I think one can dismiss one episode. But at the same time, leaders are not suppose to freeze under pressure. They are the people we look to in times of crisis for leadership. Personally, I would be a little nervous knowing my leader may not be a steady hand in a crisis.

Two, I think we can all dismiss occasional mistakes. But repeated avoidance of the press is more than occasional.

She is joining a growing list of Republican candidates who only want to talk to Fox News, Angle, Palin and now Brewer. Perhaps it won't be long before all Republican candidates only appear on Fox News.

That part doesn't bother me. State governors (and the AZ governor in particular) rarely have anything happen to the state that requires such snap judgment that is not already diffused throughout the other agencies and bureaus of the state (the only "quick threat" issue that can happen in AZ which wouldn't involve the US military would be law enforcement, and that is kept out of the governor's hands in the Attorney General--the former Attorney General cum Governor of AZ is now our Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano). As president, I would worry about her, but as governor, I just think she's got a screw loose.

That, right there, is the issue. She avoids any debate or impromptu press conference. From what my friends in Phoenix tell me, she's known to not handle those situations well.

I often have to speak in front of groups of around 150 people and sometimes I pause, not often because I like talking, but yeah, I can lose my train of thought and babble here and there and sometimes just never get to a point because I can't remember what I was on about to begin with. Which is why the Gods invented Powerpoints

which actually really do suck at delivering information (I think) but make life so much easier.

Mod note: Buffalo, you've been warned. Stop trolling or you'll be escorted out.

Obama isn't my hero. In fact, he pretty well sucks as a POTUS.

I wouldn't say he sucks but he is clearly at this point less than the obstacles before him.
