It is a question of balance.

The West must realise that putting their faith in politicians is woefully misguided.

Westerners must also accept their history of what they have done to non-European people.

If you want a world where people are morally responsible you have to start in your own home - not hoping some politician can magically make it happen.

I REALLY don't see the problem with the veils. I, myself would love to be exposed to other cultures. However, I live in the Midwest, so almost everyone is either black or white. The problem is that many Moslems (and Hispanics here in America) refuse to accept themselves as citizens of the countries they move to, but rather form insulated communities that retain a cultural identity in opposition and contradiction of the nation they currently inhabit. No they didn't? The majority of indigneous people were not "physically exterminated" nor was a true attempt to be made. There were instances of violence and indeed, of protracted war, but the Western man never attempted to cleanse the Earth of these people. They were not culturally developed engouh to have alcohol.

in you first paragraph, i would not class this as Muslim culture... the culutre of a muslim should be that of the country he resides in....Many Hindus in England bring over their Indian culture, in their wedding receptions, the way they dress etc... Also muslims from india also have very similar wedding cermonies to that of the hindus, what they have in fact brought over to England is their indian culture....
Even more so in my fathers country of mauritius there wedding custioms are very similar to that of Hindus..

One thing which you may be interested in and which surprised me somewhat is that according to a documentary i saw on one of the uK channels is that Las Vegas has the highest growth rate of muslim population in the entire US..

Admittedly there are some Moslems, from certain areas, which would share similarities with other cultures which they are connected with. You offer the example of yoru family and of course, one cannot contest this from that perspective. Yet the source of origin of the Moslems in question tend not to matter. That is, though they might be Pakistani, or Egyptian, or a Tajik does not matter, but rather, that as a general rule do they refuse assimilation. Of course not all Moslems are bad. Not at all. Only the community as a whole has a problem, specifically the ones which are the most insulated and isolated from society as a whole and which have hardly assimilated.
