Terje Roed-Larsen, the UN special envoy for the Middle East peace process, said the "drastic" restrictions in place at the Erez crossing had stranded UN workers on either side of the border.
"With such a total clampdown, where even staff with a UN laissez-passer [pass] fail to get in and out of Gaza, it really makes a bad situation worse," he told the BBC.
What possible justification could there be for this aside from spite? There's never been a bombing by a UN worker after all.
On Tuesday morning, Israeli troops pulled out of the Gaza town of Beit Hanoun which they seized five days ago, reportedly leaving a trail of destruction behind them.
This is typical behavior of the IDF, if an attack comes from a Palestinian town, they destroy the town. Can you imagine living a life where at any time the house you live in may be torn down along with all your posessions? Possibly with little or no warning to you and your family?
Nearly two-thirds of the population of Gaza were refugees who relied on the UN for health care, education, social services and other relief, he added.
"The Gaza economy is totally crippled," Mr Roed-Larsen said.
"We have now about 75% of the population living below the poverty level, which is less than $2 a day. We have an unemployment rate which is pushing 50%, and I think these figures alone show how terrible the situation is there."
and now Israel is stopping aid from reaching these people. The number of Palestinians who have been murdered directly by the IDF is high enough. I wonder how many die as a result of the conditions they are forced to live in?
