This "news" (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3893655.stm) is counter productive (at the very least). Israel is pissing off Palestinians (even more) by dictating where Arafat can and can not be buried when he dies (hopefully of natural causes).
Firstly, this or any other “plan” of this sort must be kept secret if it is to have any use at all. It is obvious that the true purpose of this plan is not the content itself but to instill or provoke action/reaction from Palestinians and/or Israel and/or international community.
Secondly, when Arafat dies (hopefully of natural causes), wouldn’t it be great if Israel would welcome him to be buried Jerusalem? Why not?

1) Jerusalem is under Israeli sovereignty (whether you like and recognize the fact, or not). if i want to be buried in Sweden i probably won't be able to unless it's approved. if Arafish wants to be buried in Israel he has to be aproved too

2) why would Israel approve of this? when Hitler was found, they did not bury to avoid creating a shrine for followers to come and visit. him being buried anywhere in Jerusalem would have a big encouraging effect for 'palestinians'... they'll have another "holy place" to visit

3) many Muslims, including many 'palestinians' oppose of him being buried on Temple Mount (a.k.a. the "Haram al-Sharif) because not only is he a non-practicing Muslim (he is... very symbolically), but he actually married a Christian woman. that's pissing a lot of Muslims off and the dont want him buried anywhere near the 3rd holiest place in Islam

as far as i'm concerned, he can be buried in Khiriya or Egypt (his birthplace) or Paris (where his wife lives) or Jordan (Palestine)... or even better: be cremated and flushed down the toilet

(hopefully of natural causes)
the right thing to do would be for Israeli forces to arrest him and give him a slow painful death...
but the smart thing to do would be to let him die on his own, preferably with many doctors and witnesses around him, in the most public place possible, so they won't think Israel killed him (but they will anyway)

that way the process can go forward and maybe we can actually have peace.

Maybe they feel a bit awkward about the mass murderer of Israelis buried in their capital. Just a thought ;)

Oh... I dunno... for some reason I'm rather enamored of the image of a helicopter gunship zipping a missile thru the window of his lavatory while he is sitting there taking a dump...
