View Full Version : Iso files
StrayDogStrut 06-04-05, 11:51 PM My brother and I had a copy of Warcraft III and I was hoping to make a copy of the game so he could take it with him. I know that he won't be able to play online and whatnot, but it would be nice to finish up the campaign. I thought the task of taking the image of the cd and putting it onto another cd would be easy, but I've really been struggling. I was hoping someone could guide me through it step by step. I have ISOBuster and Nero and I think that's all I need. If someone could give me step by step how to go from the Warcraft cd to make an exact copy so it could be used instead, I would really appreciate it. Thank you
download alcohol 120% (http://trial.alcohol-soft.com/en/)
you can get a free trial of it. it has image making and image burning wizzards that are no-brianers to fingure out.
lol..
I fail to understand why one needs alcohol 120% for such a simple task.
dd if=/mnt/cdrom of=cdrom.iso
Instead of download that, try knoppix if you don't linux installed. Boot it up, and type the above command in after mounting the cdrom.
I think that downloading, installing, and running a small winsoft is actually quicker than downloading a 700mb Knoppix iso, then burning it, then restarting the computer, then running it.
If Linux is already installed, then it is sweet, if not, it's too much of a nuisance.
psss...quiet Avatar! Knoppix is a gateway drug.
vslayer 06-05-05, 05:41 AM blindwrite will do it, i have yet to find a game with copy protection it cannot crack
Stryder 06-05-05, 07:09 AM If all else fails, try looking in your local games store for budget games (Games that have sold either in Gold/Platinium usually get rereleased at a less price a year or two down the line)
Just be careful to note that buying secondhand games usually means that you don't have the same licensing because the first people to purchase are entitled to the Products Registry Key which means when you get around to playing online using that key, you might find it already in use and registered.
Assuming that you dont have Linux on your Box : Please download DVD decrypter (do a google). its like 4 or 5 MB program, it makes ISOs easily. (If you have DVDs)
Now as for Nero its simple :
Step 1: Open Nero Express
Step 2: New Project
Stpe 3: CD Image
Step 4 : Save as in (combo in dialog box shows, .nrg,.cue,.iso)
Step 5: save the project and forget about it.
Now as for a CD copy :
just alter step 2 to CD Copy or Image ...
thanks
there' something more :If you have made CD Image already and you dont want to waste your damm money on writing CDs anymore(since Burning DVDs is in vogue), please download Daemon Tools (Software which runs cd as if it were real Disks from image files (can also be used for DVDs),we use that in Dorms at NJIT for playing N/W games, since all of us dont go around burning DVDs for games...;) just an advice though...
StrayDogStrut 06-06-05, 01:53 PM Thank you for the responses. If I use blindwrite, will the copy function make a complete copy so it can run like the original, or do I need to make an image and then record that to a cd? And if I use it to write an image to a cd, will it just write the image to it, or will it extract it and write it so that it will function just like the original?
just use some program (people have listed many) to make a ISO, then use a program with a image writing mode, and write the image. thats it, not too hard.
StrayDogStrut 06-06-05, 04:53 PM I understand, it's just that I've tried and it doesn't seem to work. I used BlindWrite and used Warcraft as a sample. I took the iso file of the game that I had made and tried to just write in the image mode. It'll run the autoplay, but I can't run it. It asks me for the disk. I really don't know what to do so it will actually work
hmm, I don't know, I don't copy much stuff. it is probably protected, try one of the programs they recomend for getting around protection.
He needs a crack exe file for that game, so that all cd's are recognized as valid.
