Is the donation box a con?

I just donated $5 a few days ago but the box still says $720. Where did my money go? Please God I hope it didn't go to LeeDa....

Unless my donation didn't go through? I didn't use Paypal, just a card.

if it was something more secure than paypal then i might consider it, but i never use any money in paypal not even for ebay

I've said it and I'll say it again: PayPal sucks, I hate it and I don't trust it.
That's why the last time I paid, I immediately afterwards deleted info on my card from their system.
I wish we could donate by card only...

i imagine that the arrangment we have comes from a mixture of 1. convenience for porfiry..and 2. the absence of a legal liability in case of some sort of transaction error dealing with a bank account...that is a very different ballgame than paypal screwing something up.

the difference is that there is no direct contact between a bank account, and porfiry.

with paypal, the error couldnt be pinned on dave if something happened.

 

no, i dont use paypal for the very reasons stated above by other posters. i made my account, used it to donate, and destroyed it afterwards.

i was explaining the advantages to paypal for porfiry, not for us.
