On the surface, there are no problems. But what about after years of use, including heavy use?

It's interesting to see this drug get legalized in Canada. From a governmental standpoint, that's one way of getting out of the problem of drug enforcement. But is it in the long-term going to lead to problems in the citizenry?

You don't need to go the Netherlands - pot has been used here for many more decades than that.

Why haven't any of the pro-pot people studied this? Could it be because... they're stoned?

Pot is in common use around the world even if it is leagalized or not. I know quite a few people who get baked every day on the stuff and they come off normal...you'd never think they were pot heads. With pot or many other drugs it comes down to the reason you take it and if you can control the intake of it and keep it to minimal.

Actually you CAN tell by little things - ie the pupils. But other than you're pretty much right.

Many things can be dangerous in large quantities. Pot is no exception. Years of screwing around your brain will obviously mess it up good. No question. But so will TV, various foods, etc. And this goes w/o advocating pot.

I don't think it will lead to any significant problems other than those the government generates with its ignorance. And BTW, pot has not been 'legalized.' It's just not a criminal offense anymore.

    Dutch input:

The legalisation of pot did not lead to the whole soceity getting stoned and stupid / economy collapsing. Sure, some really heavy users can become drooling vegetables or severly depressed after years of chron-ical abuse, but they would do that anyway, no matter if the pot was legal or illigal. Personally I don't fancy pot at all (I am a GHB whore instead). But one of the main advantages of pot is that it tends to cool down people with agressive tendencies that would otherwise explode if they use alcohol or cocaine.
