I was wondering, the US proudly admits that they are in Iraq in order to "bring freedom to the people" or "liberate them from oppression". I can deal with that.
On the other hand, there are a LOT of worse situations than in Iraq currently and always!
Sadam Hussein´s regime was a kid´s playground compared to the situation in many African countries, like Congo for example:
In a report I wanted to bring to attention, I read:

"UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Marie Guéhenno reported that 12,000 women and girls had been raped in the previous six months alone"

    Also this one:

"The four and a half year war in the Democratic Republic of Congo has taken more lives than any other since World War II and is the deadliest documented conflict in African history, says the International Rescue Committee.

A mortality study released today by the IRC estimates that since August 1998, when the war erupted, through November 2002 when the survey was completed, at least 3.3 million people died in excess of what would normally be expected during this time."

So, what is the difference between Iraq and Congo, and why did Bush decided to wipe Iraq out of the map before resolving the biggest conflict that the World was facing at the time?
WMDs? Well, we all know how that turned out.
It is extremely hypocritical to say that you want to liberate a country from oppression, when there in comparison to Congo, Iraq was having party time!!

Is it because there is no oil enough in Congo, to take advantage of like in Iraq?

I mean, like Homer said: "Is it gas?"

Of course not. Saddam was very bad man. We must bring peaceful stability to the middle east along with American democracy values. God bless America and her allies...

Of course, oil is what makes Iraq so important.

why is the invasion of kuwait funny to you?
why is the murder of iraqis by saddam funny to you?
why is the attempted murder of our president by saddam funny to you?

    and this:

man, the atrocities committed by saddam are almost endless.

And the atrocities committed by the US are all so negligible? Talk about the blind leading the blind. You put Saddam in power anyway, and gave him his weapons to fight Iran. Now you suddenly decide to change you're mind, you're the reason the Middle East is unstable to begin with. Stop pretending you piss holy water and go build some levees.

No, have you read the OP? "the US proudly admits that they are in Iraq in order to "bring freedom to the people".

Which they obviously dont give a shit about, cos if it suited them , they were happy to support Saddam. Understand? Its like a violent rapist calling a serial killer a "bad man".

No it makes him a bad guy, but no worse than the US for the past 40 years, so I believe we should change you're regime as well.

Under the pretext of "global security".

I definitely see your point about historical inconsistency, but do you think it is impossible that nations can learn from their mistakes and try to correct them?
