I found this video today which shows a fellow war veteran using a "World Passport" to cross the border between Canada and United States. He was allowed to cross without incident. http://naturalnews.tv/v.asp?v=E9F39365E28F6D6A978B7CAAAA7D9613 The video then cites the following website, where you can apply for World Citizenship, Passport, etc... http://worldservice.org/ Upon looking closely, I have found certain legal aspects to this, fundamentally from the concept of sovereignty and legitimacy. From that alone, it seems that this is completely legitimate and our governments cannot legitimately deny those rights. This quote, I feel, is of particular importance: "The theory of our political system is that the ultimate sovereignty is in the people from whom springs all legitimate authority." -- McLean, J. in Spooner v. McConnell, 1. McLean, 347. What do you think?
Citizenships belong to countries and since there is no such country as "world", thus most other countries wouldn't accept you traveling with such passport. If you don't believe me, I dare you to try it... Just because someone makes an argument and a website, that doesn't mean it is legitime...
That's just the thing... what IS legitimate? I remember from political science class that a government needs to be legitimate to govern otherwise they have no power. Basically, the people in the country need to recognize the government as legitimate. So what if everyone recognize this world citizenship as legitimate? Would that make it legitimate? If not, then when did legitimacy ceased to be a matter of what the people state as legitimate and what the government imposes as legitimate? It seems like a really tricky concept... "legitimacy"....
