Because you were "forced" to get it into your system, I guess it will spilled out in due time... outlandish 01-10-07, 02:34 PM I can listen to her beat but her voice is annoying, I think. ugh....that warbling voice, drives me nuts. i'd give her ass a good workout though.... spidergoat 01-10-07, 02:37 PM who dat? smile_on_a_rainyday 01-10-07, 02:45 PM be glad u'll never know unless u want your ears scarred for LIFE spidergoat!!!! thedevilsreject 01-10-07, 03:25 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfXLEeBwcmE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFG1CN3Yo9U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KGr5qt9PmI&mode=related&search= hate her voice, but like outlandish said id split the bitch in two given half a chance FallingSkyward 01-10-07, 03:40 PM ^gross. Shakira has an "interesting" voice. I appreciate the fact that it's different. Most of the voices in popular music today sound very similar. She also reportedly has an IQ of 140, which is pretty hot. outlandish 01-10-07, 03:41 PM and lick her feet all night outlandish 01-10-07, 03:45 PM and her tushy. Neildo 01-10-07, 04:24 PM Her voice is an acquired taste. Her screeching doesn't compare to Yoko Ono who downright ruins songs, even worse when musical legends are playing with her, it makes you want her to shut up even more. Example: During The Rolling Stones Rock 'n Roll Circus, The Dirty Mac, featuring John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, and Mitch Mitchell, only to have Yoko do her screeching and wailing that even makes some members of the band give her some odd looks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5H7TEIveNZY Edit: Actually that wasn't the one I was thinkin' of although she does her wailing there. Man, I've seen some even worse ones from her with even crazier looks from her where even John nudges her to shut up, heh. - N Ayodhya 01-10-07, 05:00 PM Shakira's voice works in some of her more popular songs, but the music she creates is decent at best, so her voice doesn't help out her less melodious beats. 777 01-10-07, 05:18 PM who dat?Isn't it that Colombian girl that dances around screaming? 777 01-10-07, 05:18 PM be glad u'll never know unless u want your ears scarred for LIFE spidergoat!!!!lol not a big loss. spidergoat 01-10-07, 05:40 PM Isn't it that Colombian girl that dances around screaming? You mean your momma? Nazareth 01-10-07, 10:53 PM You mean your momma?:) LOL Fraggle Rocker 01-11-07, 12:32 AM I love Shakira. But I started listening to her on Spanish-language radio in L.A. before the Hollywood machine did a Céline Dion on her. (Check out Céline's fabulous work in French.) Some people called her the Colombian Alanis Morissette. Yeah she warbles and does a lot of other things, she has a very dynamic and expressive voice. The crap they make her do in English is about as interesting as the crap they make Céline do in English. I saw her in Philly in 2002. Did the whole show in Spanish except for "Dude Looks like a Lady," which apparently she enjoyed doing on the Aerosmith tribute show. I think every Colombian in seven states was there. It was indescribably great. Her big crossover hit was "Ciega Sordomuda" -- that is, a crossover into the lucrative Mexican market, the song had a mariachi band. She did some very expressive things with her voice including that lightning-fast Spanish rapping that makes American rappers sound like they're on prozac. But my favorite song of hers is "Ojos Así." If you've seen the video you won't ever forget it because she is also a professional belly dancer. The bridge is in Arabic. Her father is Lebanese and she speaks fluent Arabic as well as Spanish and English. Her surname is Mebarek. draqon 01-11-07, 12:33 AM actually...is she actually a 'she'...sumone sed she was actually a guy....???? mel xxx oh please.......ur jus jealous smile_on_a_rainyday 01-11-07, 12:31 PM oh please.......ur jus jealous i'm really not. phonetic 01-11-07, 12:40 PM She sounds a lot better when she sings in her native tongue - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzpofSsAGGc outlandish 01-11-07, 01:32 PM She sounds a lot better when she sings in her native tongue - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzpofSsAGGc i'd give her some native tongue. Nikelodeon 01-11-07, 01:34 PM She sounds a lot better when she sings in her native tongue - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzpofSsAGGc True. tablariddim 01-11-07, 01:38 PM i'd give her some native tongue. That would make her sing sweetly. phonetic 01-11-07, 03:01 PM i'd give her some native tongue. But then her future performances wouldn't be as nice if she kept having to scratch her cooch. Fraggle Rocker 01-11-07, 04:54 PM is she actually a 'she'...sumone sed she was actually a guy....????You must be joking. She's one of the two or three sexiest women alive. (And I can't really think of the other ones at the moment.) There is nothing remotely masculine about her. smile_on_a_rainyday 01-11-07, 05:14 PM You must be joking. There is nothing remotely masculine about her. well it didnt occur to me at first that she was...but when u hear so many people say the same thing you start to wonder if its tru lol! rumours ey??? altho she kinda sounds like a bloke....crossed with a terrorised cat.... phonetic 01-11-07, 05:41 PM Her boobs are fairly non existent, but show me a guy who can dance the way she does. smile_on_a_rainyday 01-11-07, 05:50 PM hahahaaaaaaaaa This Guy!!!! http://www.metacafe.com/watch/171915/shakira_spoof/ so gross....yet so funny....but disturbing!!!! ewwwwwww! Fraggle Rocker 01-11-07, 09:04 PM well it didnt occur to me at first that she was...but when u hear so many people say the same thing you start to wonder if its tru lol! rumours ey???I'm sure it's our ladies who started that rumor. They don't want us slobbering all over the tv. :)altho she kinda sounds like a bloke....crossed with a terrorised cat....She's an alto. Most pop chanteuses are sopranos. That means she's singing as much as an octave lower than most girl singers. That puts more of the harmonics of the notes she sings down within the range of our hearing and allows her to play around with the texture of her voice. Alanis Morissette, Joan Osborne, Alison Moyet, Toni Childs, Patti Smith, Alanah Davis, and many other female vocalists who are hailed as having very unusual, dynamic and expressive voices, are altos. Of course that puts them closer to the range of a first tenor. These girls can cover Robert Plant, Joe Perry, etc. and do it dead-on because at the bottom of their range they can hit the guys' high notes. There's a tribute band in the U.S. called Lez Zeppelin, and they almost do Led Zeppelin better than Led Zeppelin. Dr Lou Natic 01-11-07, 09:13 PM I've read somewhere her choir teacher told her she sounded like a bleating goat when she sang and she was thrown out of the choir. But it was written like "now look how wrong they were". But really it's the most accurate description of her voice I've ever heard. If you make a goat noise you can clearly transition into singing "hips don't lie". Turns out professional singing instructors know what they're talking about. Who knew? Oniw17 01-11-07, 09:39 PM I think the MadTV episode featuring Shakira got it perfect. outlandish 01-12-07, 11:00 AM You must be joking. She's one of the two or three sexiest women alive. (And I can't really think of the other ones at the moment.) There is nothing remotely masculine about her. god bless the old folk. I guess when a man get's past his 3 scores and ten he's just happy to be alive and anything and everything looks good. The Map 01-12-07, 04:31 PM I think the MadTV episode featuring Shakira got it perfect.I missed that, Any highlight? Fraggle Rocker 01-12-07, 05:24 PM god bless the old folk. I guess when a man get's past his 3 scores and ten he's just happy to be alive and anything and everything looks good.I'm only three score and three. And I'm not terribly enthralled by most of the young "hotties." Beauty lasts but cuteness doesn't and I admit that Shakira is more cute than beautiful. She will not be a Lauren Hutton or a Sophia Loren. But I find her attractive as much for her personality and performance. She's very charming and philosophical, almost erudite, in Spanish. I can't imagine how she must come across in Arabic. And she does move better than almost anybody. Having formal training in belly dancing really puts her over the top. I'll put her up against Fergie or any of her American peers. Nicole of the Pussycat Dolls exudes the pheromones right through the TV screen and she dances well, but she can't discuss the fine points of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's novels. That sketch on Mad TV must have been written by someone who doesn't like her and wanted to make her look bored and distant. She's obviously commercially-minded enough to be happy to be popular in America, but she still just can't quite believe we're really like this. I wish Jon Stewart would get her on his show. She would blow us away. outlandish 01-12-07, 05:31 PM you know I luvs ya fraggle, you old duffer:) Fraggle Rocker 01-12-07, 05:40 PM I don't think I'll ever be able to say that any other woman sings like a goat, after the South Park skit about Stevie Nicks. :) |
