I followed Hype's link the other day regarding the "singularity". That is, a revolution in technology in which we create AI more intelligent than us that then is able to design even more intelligent AI until the computers are way smarter than we are.

Well, watching Invader Zim I wonder if his home planet is just such a society. They choose their leaders based on height, and said leaders are mostly concerned with snacks. Everyone seems to be an idiot, yet they have an incredibly advanced society with technology well beyond anything on earth and things seem to somehow get done.

So, I wondered, did Zim's people create a benevolent super intelligent AI that keeps things running while its creators goof off and engage in a half hearted attempt to conquer the universe?

Well, actually I expect we will learn to augment our intelligence and delay our conscious mortality. We are all an immortal and precious evolving story of conscious intelligence that will expand in time space and consciousness much farther than we can see now- it's a minor technicality that I'm fond of believing in even if it seems crazy in my own time.
