Well, the ICC has almost no extradition powers anyway, what is the US so afraid of? Maybe Bush is just covering his ass.

WTF? So, now, the us military can stop the World court from making an american citizen a war criminal?
This is fucking bullshit!

yikes,those poor dutch!
I remember when this hit our national news in 2003. Then and now the concept of an US invasion force extracting people facing trial for the ICC is surreal at best. As far as I know, no one here takes this "Hague Invasion" option very seriously.

Why not? The Netherlands could be valuable to the US. It has the biggest port in the world. It is a gateway to Germany.

Apparently it has lots of muslims who are part of the axis of evil.

Everybody already speaks English.

And if the occupation becomes to troublesome you can just flood it and leave it as a swamp.

Lots of oil refinery and other chemical industries.

Possibly a source of the production of WMD

Nuclear powerplants present (i hear the evil Dutch are keen on making dirty nuclear weapons)

And the Queen prevents the existence of a democratic republic.

Gather your forces now I would say. Before someone else invades holland.

And I thought Al Quida would be more interested in invading the Netherlands, since they hate freedom.

The Netherlands is the first target for America's new War on Porn.

Time for me to enlist and I hope I become a POW and tortured the likes our female interrogators did to the poor Muslims in Iraq and Guantanimo. I'll even bring my own shackles and whip. :D

The World Court? Oh come on. According to who's laws? Like the Russians, Chinese, French, Germans, Japanese, or British would bow down to this joke of a court. Of course none of you will point that out. As usual is "Bad US. US so Bad." What a bunch of whiney clowns.

Whiney clowns actually use the argument that something is ok because other whiney clowns do the same things.

If it's joke, why did the US designed this law which could be used to violate the sovereignty of the Netherlands, a country which happens to be a NATO partner and a trusted ally? If the ICC is not going to work by default, as you suggest, why create an international scandal by humiliating a befriended nation.

As usual is "Bad US. US so Bad."
Regardless of the ICC, adopting a law which makes an invasion on allied soil possible, I'd at least call bad manners.

Because a bunch of NATO partners and trusted allies designed a law (the ICC) which could be used to violate the sovereignty of the United States. It's as simple as this: if you use take and hold US citizens, the US will come and get them. That's an assertion of US sovereignty, not an attack on Dutch sovereignty.

Really? So what about the sovereignty of the country which holds US citizens? Or is the USA the current owner of the world?
So if a US citizen breaks the law of a country, by doing something which is not illegal in the USA, which country has jurisdiction?

Now, all this is part of old old problems anyhow. Nowadays we have extradition treaties, diplomatic representation, etc etc, to try and avoid wars over things that citizens of other countries do in our countries.

Maybe it's not really fair for those facing new kind of "war" terrorists' WAR on the unarmed?

It has been used lately by propagandists mainly.

Dear James r!
Did you say the same words to Islamofacsist poster: Brian Foley on his dreadful thread: "more anti iran propaganda" where he called a cerian entire nation "animals" and VOUCHED to drive them all out to the sea?
Or are only Muslims entitled to be called "victims" (even Islamofascists) today in age?
