View Full Version : Internet connection python 03-27-07, 05:05 PM Can i connect my cable modem directly to a wireless router and share the internet connection without having to attach the router to the computer Nikelodeon 03-27-07, 05:06 PM Probably. What type router and modem? python 03-27-07, 05:10 PM NTL cable modem and a netgear router Nikelodeon 03-27-07, 05:11 PM How is it set up now? You would have the network cable going to the router, instead of to the computer. python 03-27-07, 05:14 PM 1 ethernet cable goes from the modem and into the router and a secondary ethernet cable goes from the router into the computer (which is what i want to find a way around) Nikelodeon 03-27-07, 05:15 PM Are you sure you have a wireless router? python 03-27-07, 05:18 PM haa haa yes im sure i was puzzled myself when i realised i had to connect it to the computer but i guess its meant to be to share 1 connection with another laptop or another desktop but i only have 1 desktop. Nikelodeon 03-27-07, 05:19 PM Do you have a wireless adapter (Usually USB) on your computer? python 03-27-07, 05:20 PM yes Nikelodeon 03-27-07, 05:22 PM Then you could use it to connect your computer to the router via the wireless adapter. Can you search for wireless networks? python 03-27-07, 05:27 PM Thanks for your help i think you are probably right my brain isnt working i ll do it 2morow after school :D python 03-28-07, 12:15 PM Can anyone tell me how to delete a wireless network please one_raven 03-28-07, 12:21 PM :roflmao: python 03-28-07, 12:24 PM one_raven your mum is a man one_raven 03-28-07, 12:25 PM one_raven your mum is a man You know because sucked her off? python 03-28-07, 12:26 PM No ur sister told me last night Nikelodeon 03-28-07, 12:35 PM Why do you want to delete a wireless network now? python 03-28-07, 12:39 PM I dont need to anymore the problems sorted i just though the wireless connection was not working because the network was corrupt or had a problem with it out of interest how would you delete 1. one_raven 03-28-07, 12:39 PM No ur sister told me last night :D good one python 03-28-07, 12:41 PM :D good one ;) nothing personal im sure you will understand:) domesticated om 03-28-07, 01:11 PM Can anyone tell me how to delete a wireless network please Are you using windows? Which utility are you using to connect to the wireless network? Are you using the windows zero-config utility, or are you using a third party utility? python 03-28-07, 02:15 PM Third party netgear i can view the network in the windows wireless connection window but if i use a third party program i assume that means i can only delete it with that program. python 03-28-07, 03:23 PM Something else also happened when i was setting up the wireless network the computer froze fully so i had 2 turn it off from the mains and when i turned it back on instead of the standard list of accounts with the picture beside them it came up with a dialog box where you must type in your name to get in. i prefer the old menus how do i change it domesticated om 03-28-07, 03:33 PM Yes. If you use the windows utility, you can right click on the icon, select "view network settings", right click on the icon for you wireless network card, and click "properties". There will be three tabs at the top that say "general", "wireless networks" and "advanced". Click on the one that says "wireless networks", and you will see a list of all the SSID names you've connected to. You can delete whatever names you don't want. If it's a 3rd party utility, then they should have something similar to this...... but you'll have to fool around with it to find it |
