    Internet Protection Act
I give the internet another 15 years before it's pretty much under lock and key. There's nothing worse to the Nanny State than freedom of speech.

Oh, and Corzine, go fuck yourself

I wouldn't take that bet, but I have noticed a trend and many Usenet servers don't exist anymore, but those groups were very raunchy and should have died a long time ago.

It's just another push towards an Internet Split.

The Nanny systems governing one heavily controlled environment where hackers face high penalties for breaking a myriad of laws. ("Commercial network" using all the cutting edge tech, banking, shopping etc)

And the "Remnants Network" where all the old technologies and protocols are left to die a death but freedom of speech is maintained. (Open source projects would likely be left to exist here)

Of course it's like generating a Classist system for internet traffic.

This shows some people can't be trusted with the simplest of freedoms. Instead of an internet split we are need in a split of good and evil, other than that there is no good sense in sovereignty. Empower the evilest of the evil over the majority evil and let them dominate Evil Land. Only empower them as much as they will oblige to obtain, otherwise they are prisoners. The evilest evil who just exist in nature and act like toxic. They just sit their and toxic. People exist who just harm by nature, think temptation. We imagined up a heaven of all good, and evil somewhere else. Ummmm..... apply that idea, but to society?

Some people? It's a lot of people. Most ID theft activity happens on the Internet and in the U.S. alone, that's many billions of dollars every year. It might feel good to call it evil, but I think it's normal human nature for a certain percentage of the population and it must always be accounted for.

You have good, and not good being evil. Tempting another is not good. Credit fraud is not good, but its not a nature like temptation is. A good man can easily make mistakes like stealing living a corrupt society. Some men are wicked to good, naturally.

What you are describing is called being opportunistic. For people living on the edge for whatever reason, it's called surviving. However for someone who has a good job and all that goes with it, it's called greed. But in either case it's still against the law, but the guy living on the edge only gets a public defender and will probably suffer a tougher penalty. Also, I can assure you I don't want to be victimized by whomever.

So how do you protect yourself and still maximize your freedom on the Internet?
