I can be awake for may be 36 hrs and then sleep for 3, my head just will not shut up, may be some of you wish it would but it wont, i would give any thing for 8hrs sleep, but alcohol and drugs just do not work, well no drugs i can buy over the counter, some times i flip into a sort of dream state for 30 mins or so and have no recollection of the lost time, any one have a cure?
And nothing cute please, just real help.

i am an insomniac narcoleptic.

seriously.
i find that putting myself on a caffeine rush about 5 hours before i want to sleep helps me to get to sleep. other than that, i have a WILD sleep schedule. it varies from day to day.

I only have problems sleeping when I think.

Fortunately that isn't a very frequent event. I usually read a bit before sleeping to turn off my brain.

But can you sleep when you think you've had sex?

Do you get enough sunlight and exercise every day?

I'd suggest some opiates, but they're not too clever in terms of addiction, etc.

What's the doctor say? I mean, are you healthy, etc. I know you can't feel healthy, mentally. Is he out of ideas and just giving you sleeping pill prescriptions?

My mind rushes a lot of the time, but being on something for a little while has changed that slightly. Or that I've been self-medicating quite a lot recently. My sleeping pattern is still pretty shit. Why can't days be 32 hours long? :(

My doctor is one that would only subscribe sleeping pills as a last resort, he
says i am healthy enough and it is not effecting my daily life

I went through something similar. Out of work and the divorce was just begining to hit me - I refused sleeping pills, and stayed away from alcohol (deliberately).
It more-or-less worked out when I got a job again (more exercise of sorts) and something "dull" to do all day took the edge off my mind spinning.
It's just, unfortunately, something you have to live through. It does get better, by degrees.

What do you eat ?
Eat healthy without to much sugar ............
Dont have cheese , coffee or sweets in the evening ............
Work hard ( or exercise ) in day time .............
You can drink valerian tea or just hot ( warm ) milk in the evening ( makes you sleepy) ....

Sleep is dangerous, most people die in their sleep.

Sleep is a waste of time too.

I stay awake untill i pass out, so i only sleep for 2-4 hours a night.

Giraffe's sleep for 1.9 hr's and live longer in captivity/

Have you seen this?

I also often have trouble getting to sleep. Not anywhere near as bad as you. And, unlike you, once I'm asleep, I can sleep forever.

However, what works for me is:
1. Sex
2. Masterbation
3. Listening to Art Bell or whoever took over for him. He discusses this ridiculous BS like UFO's, alien abductions, Out of Body experiences, Global Warming ("The Day after tommorow" was written by one of his fill ins). Anyway, it's interesting but so ridiculous you don't get riled up by it so you can easily drift off to sleep. Kind of like adult fairy tails.
4. Read the bible. A minister once told me that the devil doesn't want you reading the bible so he'll put you to sleep whenever you do. This also seems to work, but it may just be because it's boring.

Oh, i am so new here, but you ppl already made a thread
dedicated to me? :o :thankyou:

Oh.

Seriously, i am having insomnia, but only in the night (sometimes
can't sleep till 5 AM). But as a consequence, I always wake up
late (like 10 AM). I tried to change the cycle by wake up early
(like 6 AM), expecting will sleep earlier because of too tired,
but did not work. Always sleep late.

Anybody experiencing the same?

I have a lot of trouble going to sleep early. I can't remember the last time I went to sleep before 1 am. Even with classes at 8am the next day, I usually always get to sleep around 2 or 3. more often than not, when i attempt to go to sleep early, I will lay awake longer, sometimes until 5 or 6. though, once I fall asleep, I could probobly sleep forever. I suggest we lengthen the day to 36 hours, that way you can be awake for 24, and sleep for 12. anyone with me? Anyone know a rocket scientist willing to build some rockets to slow down the rotation enough?
