If one were to buy a wireless phone (i want the sony ericsson t616) with infared and bluetooth features, would you be able to use the device as a wireless modem?
I don't understand what infared can do, and does bluetooth do anything more than sync items?

Bluetooth is designed for close range communications. With infared you can communicate with nearby devices that support such features. Share information and transport stuff. Bluetooth is an efficient close range communication technology. For example - Someone with a phone that supports Bluetooth is sitting across the room from you then you can connect to that individuals phone via Bluetooth.
Infared basically takes out the use of cables for certain tasks.
That is what i know...i am probably wrong somewhere.
yeah, i know it's good for that kind of stuff. (my vice principal at high school and I used to send each other games with our palms).
I'm more curious about their ability to act as a wireless modem, if possible. I'd rather do that than get a wireless card.
