And once again the French people take to the street to throw out an attempt by the French goverment to introduce archaic American style labour reform , and succeed .

Whilst in America the SHEEPle blindly follow their plutocratic masters into a war based on LIES and sat passively whilst the Junta destroyed their freedoms with the Patriot Act all the while to frightened to protest .

Kudos to the brave and gutsy people of France .

The French are pussies from my point of view. Being conquered twice and saved twice by USA and EU, and then treating them like shit doesn't put France high up on my list.

I'm sure everyone's seen the Google "French Military Victories" joke.

They are thinking over there in France. And speaking out for what they believe is right and true. How disgusting. We Americans would never do that.

Maybe it's better to end the whole culture war with concessions and truce. All fans of intelligent design, military intelligence, neoconservative and other morons and oxmorons, they can have one continent for the great love-it-or-leave-it lebensraum.

Otherwise, with all that our present leaders are precipitating, we are all going to "see them in hell" (right here I mean).

Get over it? Dubya's damage to the USA is going to take generations to get over, if we ever do.

I was actually talking about the World Wars, which, indeed, has no correlation to the current situation. But it's going to take some time for me to regain respect them for treating us with so much hostility, just as America is going to take a long time to recuperate from Dubya's reign and policies.

I am quite sure that nobody in France cares about your lack of respect.

As am I. Everybody has their biases against something, one of mine just happens to be against certain French people I know. Also, I'm sure there is no shortage of French people who dislike America.

What, exactly, does this have to do with "American style labour reform"?
Correct me if I'm wrong, I've barely any interest in what the French do, but what I've heard is that this is about some type of legislation that makes it easier for employers to fire employees younger than 27? That they can pretty much fire them for no reason at all?

Is that the general gist of the situation?

If so, what does this have to do with anything American?

I suppose an employer can pretty much fire anybody he wants whenever he wants. That's the way things are. After all, it's not exactly fair that an employer should be held hostage by his employees, now is it?
But, if an employer fires you for no reason (or 'lays you off') then you are entitled to a little something called unemployment insurance. Of course, the amount you receive is dependant upon how long you've been working and the money you've made and may not really be a viable option. But that's the way it is.

I don't understand this French proposal.
I take it that previous to this legislation that if you get a job, then you've basically welded yourself to the hip of your employer and there's very little he could do to get rid of you? Sounds somewhat parasitical to me. I guess that's socialism for you, though. What if his 'reason' for wanting to fire you is that he's losing money? Not because you're incompetent, but because the market for his business is slow? Must he continue to pay you for doing nothing while his business is pushed into the mud paying for employees he doesn't need?

I imagine that employers are very wary about hiring anyone in this type of climate. After all, if every time you employ someone they basically become like that brother-in-law that moves into your spare room, then one is going to be very choosy about who one hires, yes?

What's weird about this law is how it targets those under the age of 27.
    That's just... fucking weird.

I guess that's the French for you.

Hey. Where are my Freedom Fries?

one thing about the French is they make horrible movies, good champagne though.

Henri Charrière was pretty cool, one of my favorite lines from the movie Papillon is "they may kill me but they'll own you"....

as far as the latest French riots theyre pretty dumb.

Guess I'm not the only one who doesn't give much of a shit about what the French do.
