Any thoughts on this statement?

i would assume it to mean that it is important to challenge what we know and embrace new discoveries. if we get stuck in the mindset of 'knowledge' rather than questioning things then we lose science.

Imagination is the root of all inventions as well as discoveries. Without it

there would be nothing but survival as it was with the cave man.

What would people say if the quote had come from someone outside the sciences?

i disagree.
they are both needed in equal measure.
sure, it takes imagination to come up with new things, but, it takes knowledge to bring those ideas to reality.
