I have loads of xvid movies on tons of dvd-r/rw discs, i put them on through Nero DVD-ROM(UDF) option, will they work on a KiSS .Avi Player?

I've always wondered about the compatability between all these avi formats. I believe there is a good deal of compatability, but I don't know if it is enough for a divx player to player xvid files. You'll have to find someone who actually has one of the players to know for sure.

the secret is that you need the proper codecs even more then a good player.

This is a piece of hardware. A dvd/divx standalone player.

Your player that you are considering might not be capable of playing those movies you wish. As WellCookedFetus has brought out, codecs have a lot to do with what is compatible within a player and what is not.

While not as portable, it would be my suggestion that a portable laptop might be the better answer if you have money to burn, for the flexibility.

If you are going to use "authorized discs" then you will have less of a problem but you should be aware that those codex change all time. New ones come out often. If your player doesn't support them and you have no way of changing it then you will not be able to see them.

The versitility of a computer is needed if you have multiple formats and codex, or codex that may need updated in the future. If you are content with what you have to day and have no plans to change in the future, inspite of what comes up new, then prehaps a player will be all you need.

hey guys ,you can make new codecs on this player if i remind correct .... you just make an update !

perhaps you should buy a ps2 or xbox ( take the ps2 :D ) !
both can handle divx ,get updated regulary ( just take the newest version of the player-software )
a cheap solution i think

The cheapest solution is to download them for free off the internet on to your computer. I have yet to have a video or audio problem that I could not solve for free in this manner and I have a 150GB anime collection.

wcf,we already knew this is the cheapest way :D

btw, perhaps is the best solution using the tv-out of your pc for watching divx ....

I have found out that the version i want cannot be updated because it is not the 500.avi player, it is the 450. avi player without lan and network capabilities. It plays all DIVX formats except 3IVX and it plays XVID, but im not sure about how high the quality plays on this DIVX Player, KissTechnology say it has great video and audio quality wth a number of codecs built in to the machine.

donīt buy this machine,i bet youīll regret it soon ....
is there a big difference in the price of those players ?
if it isnīt much difference you should order the 500-model !!!

ps : KissTechnology say it has great video and audio quality

hehe ,now tell me ONE company that says bad things about their own products ;)

DP 450. KiSS Player Ģ150. DP 500. KiSS Player Ģ200. I read a few reviews from satisfied amazon customers that all in all said it had slight problems with playback of Divx3, but said the player was flawless with playback with XVID. The look and the design of the product is cheap and tacky, its cd-drive(white) is a different colour to the rest of the player, it doesnt have standby or have a good signal with the remote so you have to point it at the player directly(coffee table will be in the way) . I dont really care about the look or the design, i am going with the 450 because you can patch the product using cdrs without the need of lan capabilities.
