Okay, so I can ignore posters and it's doing wonders for my mental state, but as I pointed out, it does look quite silly on the screen, especially in WE&P :

So could we get the option of not showing any of the posts by ignored posters. Not just hide the content, but eliminate the posts alltogether?

You mentioned that before. Why would you want to ignore posters. This is a discussion board, it is understood that personalities and POVs will clash and result in heated states of thought and words. Plus it is funny to read from fanatics and weirdos who believe they have all the answers.

Why would you want to ignore posters.
There's no entry requirement on the board that says you have to have a minimum standard of education and rationality. The ignore lists allow us to apply that standard ourselves to eliminate posts from posters that ignore logic, rationality, or that simply post racist views all the time.
For example, in real life, I don't tend to talk much to members of the KKK or similar groups.
No reason why I should be forced to do so in here, is there?

It is the ultimate democracy. There's no law that says we have to pay attention to anyone.

As long as the stomping, spitting, yelling preacher on the streetcorner doesn't step on my toes, spit in my face, or go out of his way to attract my individual attention, I ignore him.

If any of those three things happen, I ruin his day.

The only downside, Sparks, is in letting people know they're on your ignore list. But people generally let you know if there's something afoot that absolutely needs answering.
