That makes George W Bush the most powerful being in the universe.

That's not a pleasant thought. Neither is the thought that we're the most intelligent animals in the universe.

But thanks for sharing, I guess.

The most depressing thread ever made on sciforums.

One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. --Plato (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/p/plato101112.html)
Dubya won two national elections.

That, by default, makes him the most powerful being on the planet.

And you his inferior.

Bested by a lower primate. That's gotta really hurt in the self-esteem account. Lashing out is a favorite distraction from denial.

yeah, this thread is a great exercise in irony. we have people with no concept of rational thought trying to explain intelligence. the opening post is a sentence fragment for crying out loud!

:bugeye: illogical statement. Putin is as powerfull as Bush, and Bush is as powerful as I am.

Actually we hold ourselves to be smarter than dolphins becuase all they do is eat, play, and have sex. Dolphins know they are more intelligent for the same reason.

You can't refute the logic that McChimpyHitler is more powerful than you just for being in a position of power -- the position of power.

Besides, you've probably never flown a fighter jet, nor graduated from Harvard business school.

Of course, Harvard MBAs must be a dime-a-dozen if they let W graduate. Fighter pilots, too. How is it then that you don't have one? Or've ever flown one? Parents were too poor? Never signed up to have the opportunity?

he was told what to do and when to do it, and taught how at every turn, and when he decided to do his own thinking he was coddled and protected from every mistake. He is told what to do now too, so let's not think he is the most powerful man in the universe. He is a figurehead for an organization of men much smarter and more evil than himself. Let's not forget that a lot of his people were in the whitehouse when he was still dodging the draft and getting high.

Aren't we just full of logical fallacies.

I still fail how two national elections makes one the most powerful man on earth. Maybe you had to reaffirm that the appointed candidate was actually elected? Regardless, nationally elected doesn't qualify one as the most powerful man in the world. Holding the position of President of the United States would, according to you. Winning the national election for say, the People's Democratic Republic of the Congo, qualifies you for... not a whole lot. And becoming president by, say, taking the reigns as vice-president after the president was assissinated would also put you in the position of most powerful man, though you still would have to be president of the USA. You could say anyone who controls the most powerful nation in the world would be in fact, the most powerful man in the world. That would be a far compelling argument than:
Dubya won two national elections.

That, by default, makes him the most powerful being on the planet.

Though I'd still argue that the chairman of the Federal Reserves is more powerful. He controls the markets of the free world on a few cryptic remarks, and he doesn't have to ask Congress to support his monetary policy.
