... would we already be instinct? :D

Because as far as it seems, we always create stuff to destroy each other. Like knifes, guns, uzis, rockets, nuclear weapons...

So... would we already be dead?
What do ya think? :D

Ahhh!!! Common! This was supposed to be a pool! Why the pool didn't come up!?!? :bugeye:

People on ludes should not type.

No, I doubt we would already be extinct. If there was an auto-destruct button on every living human, then it would make us more vulnerable. However, we would learn how to avoid our button being pressed. I mean, every human is pretty easy to kill already, I'm not sure how much an auto-destruct button will help.

Wouldn't it be handy if you wanted to top yourself? Just think... no need for od's, slashing of wrists or jumping off tall bridges. And when you're dying of a painful disease... ah, the simpicity of it all.

BTW Truthseeker, I don't know what ludes are but I would imagine that it's some kind of drug, that either makes you see things really small so that you have to write in gigantic letters in order to see what you're writing, or, that it's some kind of drug that drastically reduces your spelling prowess, eg: extinct, come on, poll.

Where would the button be? Think about it. It would have to have one hell of a safety switch.

tablariddim

It would be triggered by a special sequence of thoughts.

How would one go about learning the "special sequence of thoughts" without killing one's self?

"okay class. today we learn about every human's self-destruct ability.
to do so you must: picture a llama, think of the word phobia, then picture a teddy bear!"

We would kill ourself sooner then you think.

I think we would be close to extinct, considering the raging hormones most teenagers face. I mean, they'd have to get pubesecent people and put them in straightjackets to prevent themselves from pressing their own buttons.

Don't you think?

We have a self destruct button... it's called suicide.

Every kid who has access to a gun doesn't kill themself. Unless you label it 'do not push', I doubt many would use it who don't already kill themselves.

That doesn't make my post any less relevant.
People don't need an auto-destruct button to kill themselves easily. ;)

I guess I'm dating myself but lude is short for Quaalude which is a barbiturate. The phrase I twisted from “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”. But yes, you got the gist of it.

Sorry TS, just poking a bit of fun at you. The question was weird enough but the super-sized spelling mistakes in response to the forum program not doing what you wanted it to made me laugh.

I think it would be even funnier if we all had ‘reset’ switches. Some sucker gets all angry and mean, “Just reset him.”

Yeah, like a default button, but then you'd probably forget everything you ever learnt.

Yeah sure. And also a volume switch for my sister... :D
And a stand by mode for kids... :D

aren't we all born with inbuilt mental auto-destruct buttons anyway?

don't we corrupt ourselves in various ways, every day?

What do u all mean by "auto-destruct"? It has been proven that once an individual feels that he/she does not contribute to a social structure their body secretes mass amounts of endorphins(natural pain killer) Too much of this chemical causes lethargy/clouded mind/depression. Also studies have shown that individuals excluded from important social groups in grade schools have stunted groth due to high rise of endorphines and lack of important growth hormonesHGH. This same type of reaction can be seen on a cellular level(individual)and in evolution as well. Over years and years if you never use a certian part of your body, your body will break down that area/tissue for extra energy or "just becuase" its not needed. And if many millions of years if all the species doesnt use a certian part it will cease to be in the genetic material. So these "self-destruct" mechanisms can be seen intertwined on a social and biolgical level--or individual and evolutionary scales.

Thanks. That was extremly useful and enlightening for me. NowI know why I'm not quite tall and why I'm always so tired....

I would say instead, that people with stunted growth, are excluded from important social groups because of prejudice against short people, not, because exclusion leads to stunted growth.

The endorphin theory might be valid; in that, if a person is excluded from their peer groups, in all likelihood they would feel hurt and lonely and so would produce more of the pain killer, but that in itself wouldn't cause stunted growth or whatever other social ailment the person is suffering from that led to their exclusion in the first place. If anything, getting used to natural pain killers, would probably make one more prone to developing drug addictions or other forms of pain relief such as joining religious sects or cults.

I had nothing to cause my social exclusion. :bugeye:
And in fact, I have more friends now... still... I sometimes I seem to be treated like a slave... :bugeye:

People don't need a reason to be mean, you know?

...since there are knives, guns, and poisons, arent those already enough of an auto destuck button already? look around, people kill themselves everyday, people live everyday. life would be the same. we know there are things to do to kill ourselves, but we dont use them when we dont want to.
