How come IPad cannot download YouTube videos?

Needed new PC,and figured this portable tablet comes handy in my travels and since all the computer experts and consumer reports rate this thing tops,
    I got one.
Works good even though copy paste is a bit tedious at times,..
So imagine my surprise when trying to download something from youtube and
    Finding out I cant

So should I take it back and whack the nerdy geek sales punk over the head with it for neglecting to mention this..
Or is there any way to make this safari browser download YouTube stuff?
    Thnx

The iPad has a dedicated YouTube app which is one of the factory preinstalled apps. There is no need to use Safari.

On this iPad it's on the second row, second from the left with the 'old fashioned' TV icon.

Download youtube? Wtf does that mean? If you're trying to steal the videos, no that's not a native app.

How can you steal something that's free to watch?

If it was copyrighted material that would be whole different ballgame..

I had PC with Windows before and it could download anything from anywhere.
I tried to google downloading with IPad and got some interesting vids on how to do it,but it's seriously complicated using some questionable apps...
Which Safari wouldn't even open...could be illegal I'm guessing

    Don't youtube videos use Flash?

I thought Apple didn't support Flash video?

    No. YouTube uses H.264.

I can now watch most videos on most websites. CNN, Youtube, etc. without any difficulty. I upgraded to the new OS (whichever that was).

I still get eons more battery life than my boyfriend who has a brand new Samsung Galaxy 10.1 and I've had my iPad for a year now.

If they could make a profit by you visiting, and you no longer visit -- they lose money. If you no longer visit because you utilized a feature they worked to prevent, that's theft.
