Uzbekistan, America's greatest ally yet it is a repressive country. Lovely to use a proxy against everything the US hates, Islamic fundamentalism. The parelles btwn Uzbekistan and Iraq is so emmense that it shocks me that no one see's it. A secualr, semmingly Stalinist dictatorship with harsh repression if dissent. If Uzbekistan is Iraq, Turkmenistan is a nuveau NK. The cult of the personality is alive and well in that region. See it's that blind ignorance that get's the US in trouble all the time. Uzbekistan is a important state in the region because oil pipelines to energy starved India have to go through it.
